Don't Let Your Hearts Be Troubled. Trust In God, And Trust Also In Me.
Don't
Let Your Hearts Be Troubled.
Trust
In God,
And
Trust Also In Me.
Scripture
John
14
1
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also
in me.
2
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.
If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare
a place for you?
3
When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so
that you will always be with me where I am. 4
And you know the way to where I am going.”
5 “No, we
don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are
going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus told
him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the
Father except through me.
Observation
In
just a couple of hours many of us will be attending the Celebration
of Life service for my brother-in-law, Duwayne Crofton. One of the
things that DuWayne loved to do was fish. So his son, Kevin, asked if
the theme of this Celebration of Life service could be “Fishers of
Men”. I quickly replied, “Sounds great to me”!
When
Jesus said these words that we read today in John 14, he was talking
to His disciples, who were were mostly fisherman, with maybe a few
tax collectors, zealots and other sinners thrown in!
During
one of visits with DuWayne a couple of months ago we talked about his
death. DuWayne knew that unless God decided to heal him that he would
soon face death. He let me know that he wasn't afraid to die. He knew
for certain that he would live forever in Heaven with Jesus Christ.
One
of the things that DuWayne said to me in one of our conversations was
this, “Eddy, I would like to get well enough to be able to go to
church again! I miss being able to go to my church.”
DuWayne
did not say to me, “Eddy, I would like to get well enough to get
back on a boat and going fishing again.”
DuWayne
Crofton, without a doubt did love fishing. But that love of fishing
paled in significance with his love for Jesus Christ! DuWayne Crofton
had been “caught” by THE FISHER OF MEN – Jesus Christ!
Have
you been “caught” by Jesus Christ?
Application
I
will share this today at the Celebration of Life service for DuWayne.
Have you been caught by the Lord Jesus Christ?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I pray that You comfort the Crofton family through all of the
people that will attend the Celebration of Life service for DuWayne.
May the family sense Your love, Your power, and Your presence today.
Give them strength. Fill them with hope. You are the God of all
comfort and all compassion! Use the service today to draw people
closer to You.

Love Each Other. Just As I Have Loved You, You Should Love Each Other.
Love
Each Other.
Just
As I Have Loved You,
You
Should Love Each Other.
Scripture
John
13
34 So now I am
giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved
you, you should love each other. 35 Your
love for one another will prove to the world that you are my
disciples.”
Observation
Jesus
is not making a suggestion when He tells us in John 13 that we are to
love each other.
Hate,
anger, refusing to forgive, revenge, holding on to grudges that is
how the people of the world treat each other.
In
fact, it is only when the world sees us respond differently, when
they see and experience Christ's love in us and through us that is
when they will understand that we really are His disciples.
If
we are still saying, “I love them but...” or if we still say, “I
have forgiven them but...”, if that is where we still find
ourselves then we need to cry out to God and ask Him to change our
hearts. And we need to ask Him to give us His love for those
difficult people in our lives.
I
forgive you. I love you. Period … with no strings attached.
Application
I
will love and pray for those who do not love or like me. How about
you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, Jesus' love for me sent Him to the cross. He died in my
place. And He has commanded me to love those that come into my life
whether they love me or like me or not. I am to love them. Help me to
do that Lord. Give me Your Heart for them. Give me the capacity to
love those who do not love me. Show me ways to express my love to
them. Don't let me ever give up on them.

He Comforts Us In All Our Troubles So That We Can Comfort Others.
He
Comforts Us
In
All Our Troubles
So
That We Can Comfort Others.
Scripture
2
Corinthians 1
3
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our
merciful Father and the source of all comfort.
4
He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.
When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort
God has given us.
6
Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort
and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly
comfort you.
Observation
It
is true that God never waste a hurt!
Some
of you are hurting right now! I am praying for many of you.
God
will use people around you to bring you comfort and hope! Later God
will use this suffering and hurt by giving you the opportunity to
comfort someone else going through similar circumstances.
The
hurt, the pain, the suffering, and the loss we experience prepares us
to help other people with their problems in the future!
Remember
God is the source of all comfort and compassion!
He
will get you through this difficult time!
Application
I
will try to be a source of encouragement to those going through
difficult times. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, my problems are so small when I compare them to what others
are going through. Help me comfort those who are going through
difficult trials right now. Show me ways to encourage them. I pray
for those who are sick and I pray for those who are taking care of
them. Give them strength. I pray for healing. I pray for those who
have experienced the loss of a loved one. Comfort them. Fill them
with Your joy and Your peace.

Do You Believe This?
Do
You
Believe
This?
Scripture
John
11
21 Martha said to
Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
22 But I know that even
now God will give you anything you ask.”
25 Jesus said to
her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in
me will live, even though they die; 26
and whoever lives by believing in me will never
die. Do you believe this?”
27 “Yes,
Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son
of God, who is to come into the world.”
Observation
My
brother-in-law, DuWayne Crofton, went to be with Jesus this past
Saturday morning.
How
do I know that he went to Heaven? I am glad you asked!
I
know that he went to Heaven because he knew Jesus Christ as his
personal Lord and Savior!
In
those last days DuWayne knew that he was dying. His children, Kevin,
Darin, and Kelli and his wife Janice assured DuWayne that one day
they would all be together again in Heaven.
I
am so proud of them and how they handled the death of this special
person that we all love so much.
I
told Kathy that when I die I want to have DuWayne Crofton's kind of
faith!
DuWayne
was able to smile and express his love toward everyone that came to
see him, in spite of the pain, right up to the very last! God is so
good!
…
Those
who believe in Jesus will live even though they die. And whoever
lives putting their trust and faith (believing) in Jesus will never
die.
Do
you believe this?
It
is not good people that go to Heaven and bad people that go to Hell.
It is only forgiven people that go to Heaven.
Have
you been forgiven?
John
1:12
12
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he
gave the right to become children of God—
John
3:16
16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans
3:24
Yet
God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this
through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
Acts
24
Application
I
will tell people about the Good News of Jesus Christ every chance I
get! How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, You are the God of all comfort and compassion. Comfort the
Crofton family as they go through this time of loss. Thank You for
allowing me to experience the tremendous faith shown by DuWayne and
his family. Thank You for being with them during this difficult time
of sickness. I know that DuWayne is not suffering now. He has no more
pain! He is with You!

Neither
death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for
today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell
can separate us from God’s love.
39
No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in
all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God
that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I Am Poor And Weak Yet The Lord Is Thinking About Me Right Now!
I

Yet
The

Scripture
Jeremiah

5
“I

Psalm
40
17
I am poor and weak, yet the Lord is thinking about me right now! O my
God, you are my helper. You are my Savior; come quickly, and save me.
Please don’t delay!
Observation
Not
that you or I deserve God's attention or His love, I know for sure
that I don't, but it is awesome to hear that before I was even formed
in my Mother's womb that God knew me.
And
just as amazing is the fact that He is thinking about me right now!
And
all of this is true about you too!
All
the stuff that is happening in your life today is not a surprise to
God.
I
hope that you realize that you have a God that loves you and who is
thinking about you right now.
Talk
to Him. Trust Him.
He

Psalm

13
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
17-18
How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me
constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts

Application

Prayer
Heavenly

The Lord Directs The Steps Of The Godly. He Delights In Every Detail Of Their Lives.
The
Lord Directs The Steps Of The Godly.
He
Delights
In
Every Detail Of Their Lives.
Scripture
Psalm
37
Observation
Who
is a godly person?
Could
that describe you? Could it describe me?
It
can describe us if we will make the decision to put God first in our
lives. It is a choice that you and I must make each and every single
day!
We
are never going to be perfect and we are never going to do everything
right, but we can make the choice today to be godly!
Let's
say “No” to sin and “Yes” to God so we can reap the benefits
found in Psalm
37:4,23-24.
Application
I
will put God first today. How about you?
Matthew 6;33
33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as well.
Proverbs
3:5-6
5 Trust in the
Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, today is Monday. I want to start out this week putting You
first. Help me to trust You with all of my heart. I want You to
direct my path today. Show me what is important to You and show me
what I should focus on. Don't let me waste time doing stuff that is
not on Your heart.
I
pray for those who are grieving today. Give them strength. I pray for
those who are sick and those who are caring for loved ones who are
sick. Show them Your power and Your love. May they sense Your
presence today. Give them strength and courage to face this new week!

There May Be No Sheep In The Pens And No Cattle In The Barns. But I Will Still Be Glad In The Lord;
There
May Be No Sheep In The Pens
And
No Cattle In The Barns.
But
I Will Still Be Glad In The Lord;
Scripture
Habakkuk
3
17 Fig trees may
not grow figs,
and there may be no grapes on the vines.
There may be no olives growing
and no food growing in the fields.
There may be no sheep in the pens
and no cattle in the barns.
18 But I will still be glad in the Lord;
I will rejoice in God my Savior.
19 The Lord God is my strength.
He makes me like a deer that does not stumble
and there may be no grapes on the vines.
There may be no olives growing
and no food growing in the fields.
There may be no sheep in the pens
and no cattle in the barns.
18 But I will still be glad in the Lord;
I will rejoice in God my Savior.
19 The Lord God is my strength.
He makes me like a deer that does not stumble
so
I can walk on the steep mountains.
Observation
I
love this passage found today in Habakkuk chapter 3!
No
matter how bad things were the Prophet Habakkuk was still going to be
glad in the Lord. He was still going to rely on God for his strength.
He was still going to rejoice in God as his Savior.
You
and I need to do the same thing!
Psalm
28:7
The
Lord
is
my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me,
and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of
thanksgiving.
Psalm
46:1
God
is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
2
Samuel 22:30
In
your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.
Psalm
73:26
My
health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the
strength of my heart; he is mine forever.
Philippians
4
6 Don’t worry
about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you
need, and thank him for all he has done. 7
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.
19
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs
from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ
Jesus.
Application
No
matter what I have or don't have in this life I will rejoice in the
Lord. The Lord God is my strength. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, Your promise to me and to anyone else that may read this blog
is that You will meet every need that we have as long as we put You
first. I will rejoice in You today. You are my Strength. You are my
Savior. There is nothing too hard for You. Give all of those who are

My Grace Is All You Need.
My
Grace
Is
All
You
Need.
Scripture
2
Corinthians 12
7...So to keep me
from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger
from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
8 Three different
times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My
grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I
am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can
work through me.
10
That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults,
hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For
when I am weak, then I am strong.
Observation
There
are times in our lives when God does not answer our prayers, or at
least God does not answer our prayers the way we would like for Him
to answer.
The
Apostle Paul was afflicted with some kind of disease and he begged
for God to take it away, but God did not take it away. Instead, God
let Paul know that God and God's grace was all that he needed.
Our
extended family is going through a very difficult time right now. I
think that we can identify with the Apostle Paul.
God
is saying to all of us, “My grace is all you need.”
God and His
Grace is enough!
He
will get us through this!
Application
I
trust the God's Heart when I cannot see His hand in what is going on.
His grace is enough for me.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I want You to know that I still believe that You are the
Great Healer. I know that You can raise someone from the dead if You
want to. There is nothing impossible or too hard for You to do.
But
I also know that Your ways are not our ways. And I know that there
is no way for us to understand everything that happens in life. I
pray for our family as we go through this difficult time. I pray that
everything that happens would bring our family closer together and
closer to You. Your grace is all that we need.

The Lord Is Close To The Brokenhearted;
The
Lord
Is
Close
To
The Brokenhearted;
Scripture
Psalm
34
Observation
This
world is full of trouble and unfortunately even though you and I may
have the privilege of being a Christian, that privilege does not
exempt us from suffering, from struggles, from pain, from being
brokenhearted, or from our spirits being crushed.
Psalm 34:18 is a
great promise to hold on to during difficult days, “The
Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits
are crushed.”
2
Corinthians 4
7
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are
like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it
clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
8 We are pressed
on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed,
but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned
by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
10
Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus
so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
Psalm
147:3
He
heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Isaiah
61:1
The
Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is
upon me, for the Lord has
anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort
the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and
prisoners will be freed.
Jesus
understands what you and I are going through and He does feel our
pain.
John
11:35
Jesus
wept.
Application
I
know that God is close to all of our family as we go through this
difficult time.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, family trumps everything. At least family should trump
everything. Help our family as we go through this difficult time.
Give
the Croftons and the Bernaldos extra strength today. Draw close to

They Have Already Passed From Death Into Life.
They
Have
Already
Passed
From Death Into Life.
It
is inevitable, you and I are going to die. You might beat me or I
might beat you, but both of us are going to die. What I don't know
for sure is this, “Are you going to go to Heaven when die”? If
you were at Heaven's gate and God asked you, “Why should I let you
into my Heaven? What would you say to Him?
Scripture
John
5:24
24
“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message
and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be
condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death
into life.
Observation
It
is inevitable, you and I are going to die. You might beat me or I
might beat you, but both of us are going to die.
What
I don't know for sure is this, “Are you going to go to Heaven when
die”?
If
you were at Heaven's gate and God asked you, “Why should I let you
into my Heaven? What would you say to Him?
It
is not good people that go to Heaven and bad people that go to Hell;
it is forgiven people that go to Heaven.
Forgiveness
of our sins is available only through God's Son Jesus Christ!
John
11:25-26
25
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who
believes in me will live, even after dying.
26
Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do
you believe this, Martha?”
Romans
8
10
And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die
because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made
right with God.
11
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And
just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to
your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Application
I
know that I am going to Heaven when I die. I am not going to Heaven
because I am a good person, or because I have done more good things
in my life than bad ones. No, I am going to Heaven because I am
putting my faith and my trust in Jesus Christ who has conquered death
and has paid the penalty for my sins on the cross. How about you?
Heaven or Hell, the choice is ours to make!
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I know that no person can understand the Gospel unless You

reading this blog today. Lord, give them spiritual understanding.
Help them to see that faith in Jesus is the only way to have a
relationship with You.

They Put A Ring In His Nose, Bound Him Bronze Chains, And Led Him Away To Babylon.
They
Put A Ring In His Nose,
Bound
Him Bronze Chains,
And
Led Him Away To Babylon.
Scripture
2
Chronicles 33
11 So the Lord
sent the commanders of the Assyrian armies, and they took Manasseh
prisoner. They put a ring through his nose, bound him in bronze
chains, and led him away to Babylon.
12
But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the Lord his God and
sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.
13 And when he
prayed, the Lord listened to him and was moved by his request. So the
Lord brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then
Manasseh finally realized that the Lord alone is God!
Observation
Manasseh
was bad to the core. He was so bad that he sacrificed his own sons by
throwing them into a fire in worship to false gods.
God
sent the Assyrian army to get his attention. They put a ring in his
nose, bound him with bronze chains, and hauled him off to Babylon.
Then
Manasseh finally realized that the Lord alone is God!
What
did it take for God to get your attention or maybe the question is
still … what will it take for God to get your attention?
Will
it take a ring in your nose and bronze chains? Prison? I hope not.
Application
I
will continue to pray for the Lord to do whatever it takes in the
lives of the people that I love to get them to turn their lives
around and begin to put God first. Whatever it takes! How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I know that there is not one of us that deserve to have a
relationship with You and yet You love us. You loved evil King
Manasseh and You love evil me.
I
am a sinner just like all the other people that I love. None of us
deserve Your mercy, Your love, Your kindness, or Your forgiveness.
We all deserve eternal punishment in Hell. Thank You for giving me
what I don't deserve.
I
pray for those close to me that still are not putting You first in
their lives. Do whatever it takes Lord in his or her life to turn
them around.

He Must Become Greater And Greater, And I Must Become Less And Less.
He
Must Become
Greater
And Greater,
And
I Must Become Less And Less.
Scripture
John
3
30
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
Observation
Do
you want to be successful in life?
If
we put God first, others second, and “ourselves” dead last on a
daily basis then we will be successful in God's eyes! We will make
Him smile!
My
tendency and maybe your tendency too is to get those 3 out of order!
And
to be honest it is a daily struggle for Eddy Williams to keep those 3
in the right order –
“Me
– Myself – and I” always seems to want to move up to that
number one spot!
Matthew
22:37-39
37 Jesus replied,
“‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your
soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest
commandment. 39 A second is equally
important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
Mark
9:35
35
He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said,
“Whoever wants to be first must take last place and
be the servant of everyone else.”
Mark
10:43-45
43 But among you
it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be
your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be
first among you must be the slave of everyone else.
45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve
others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
2
Corinthians 10:18
When
people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important
thing is for the Lord to commend them.
Application
It
is my desire to be number 3 today.
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, nobody knows me better than You. Help me keep You in the
number one spot in my life. Help me to think of other people as more
important than myself and when I get things out of that order please
let me know that I am messing up!
