Pray for us!

Kathy and I have been moving and our computer, our dsl connection was disconnected. Sorry if you have been coming to my blog to check it out. Until I get back to writing why don't you check out this website and read the blog's of Wayne Cordeiro and his staff. I'm sure that I probably don't agree with Pastor Wayne Cordeiro on every doctrinal issue, but he and his church are doing some awesome things to reach people for Jesus in Hawaii!

http://www.enewhope.org/content/pastorsdevotions/

We are going on a Mission Trip to El Carmen, Tlaxcala, MEXICO this Thursday, July 27th and will return on Friday, August 3rd.

So you probably will not see anything new on my blog until we get back from the mission trip.

Pray for us as we go.

Pray that God would use us to touch lives and that out of this effort a church would be planted in the villages where we will be working!

Thanks in advance for your prayers!

Love,

Eddy and Kathy

Scripture

Isaiah 43

When You're Between a Rock and a Hard Place

1-4 But now, God's Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
"Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you.
I've called your name. You're mine.
When you're in over your head, I'll be there with you.
When you're in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you're between a rock and a hard place,
it won't be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior. (Message)

Observation

I usually read everyday using the NIV translation when I have my quiet time, but today for some reason my computer had the “Message” paraphrase version open and so I read from that today. I really like Isaiah 43 in the “Message”. “When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you” wow…this is so true. I have been there many times and God has always been there with me. Are you in over your head today? Are you in rough waters thinking that you are going down? Are you between a rock and a hard place? If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions then Isaiah 43 is the passage for you. I have gone to this passage many times in my life to gain strength and assurance and I am sure that I will return to it many times in the future. Isaiah 41, Psalms 37 are also great passages when you are in over your head!

Application

I will meditate on Isaiah 43 today with the confidence of knowing that I have a personal God who loves me!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are Wonderful. You are all Powerful. Nothing is too hard for you! Please help me get everything done today that needs to be done to be able to go on the mission trip tomorrow. Bring to my mind everything that is important today for me to remember. Be with our team members as they prepare for the trip. Be with our Mexican Christian brothers and sisters in Christ that we will be working with and open up doors of opportunities for us in the villages where we will go. You are an awesome wonder working God. Thank you for loving me!

Be Strong…Do Not Fear!

Isaiah 32; Isaiah 33; Isaiah 34; Isaiah 35; James 2
Today’s "Life Journal" Daily Bible Reading can be found on Line. Click Here!

Scripture

Isaiah 35

4 say to those with fearful hearts,
"Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,

Observation

Do you have a fearful heart today? During the last couple of days we have had some really powerful thunderstorms pound us. I love storms! How about you? I have to admit that when that lightening is cracking down especially when it hits close there is a little bit of momentary fear! After all, we don’t know where that lightening is going to hit and we don’t want to be the next target! My mother in law is super afraid of lightening and I have a lot of fun kidding her about her fear, but bottom line it all comes down to our trust in our Heavenly Father to take care of us. “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come.” What are you afraid of today? Let me say to you today, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come.”

Application

I am going to memorize Isaiah 35:4 and quote it when I am caught with a fearful heart.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, over and over again in scripture you tell us not to be afraid and I think that you have to do that because we are so easily frightened by the things around us. Your word tells us not to be afraid; it tells us to trust in you. Lord, help me to trust and not be afraid today. You are my strength, my shield, my fortress, you hide me under the shadow of your wings, and nothing can touch me today without your permission! Thank you for taking care of me. You are Awesome and worthy to be Praised.

Is Life Tough?…Here’s a Reason to Hang in There!

Isaiah 29; Isaiah 30; Isaiah 31; James 1
Today’s "Life Journal" Daily Bible Reading can be found on Line. Click Here!

Scripture

James 1

12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Observation

I want God’s blessing on my life don’t you? Here is how to get it…hang in there when you are undergoing trials and difficulties, persevere! I like what James says a little further down in this chapter too, “25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.” You want to be blessed by God then be a doer of His Word and He says that you will be blessed. I like that don’t you!

Application

Apply His Word today in your life…be a doer of His Word and watch how He blesses you!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to be a doer of your Word today. Help me see how you are blessing me because I am putting you first in my life. Help me see with your eyes today so that I will not be discouraged. I want to see things as they really are and not as they seem to be. I love your Word and I love you. I look forward to one day receiving the crown of life because of my love for you. You are Wonderful and Mighty and Worthy of Praise.

Would You Pray This For Me?

Isaiah 25; Isaiah 26; Isaiah 27; Isaiah 28; Hebrews 13

Scripture

Hebrews 13

20 May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Observation

Pray for us. That is what the writer of Hebrews asks his readers to do in verse 18 and then in verse 20 he launches into a prayer for them, which I would love for you to pray for me and everyone else that God lays on your heart today. “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.”

Application

Pray that God would equip those that you pray for today with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in them what is pleasing to him!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, may you equip the leaders in our church with what they need today to do your will, and may you work in them what is pleasing to you, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Ever Wondered Why God is Invisible?

Isaiah 19; Isaiah 20; Isaiah 21; Hebrews 11
Today’s "Life Journal" Daily Bible Reading can be found on Line. Click Here!

Scripture

Hebrews 11

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king's anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

Observation

Have you ever wondered why God just doesn’t show Himself? He has chosen to remain invisible to us, of course, on purpose. Verse six gives us the reason, “without faith it is impossible to please God.” God chooses to make us live by faith and not by sight. I believe that God wants us to make a choice…He wants us to choose to trust in Him. Verse 27 shows us that even though God is invisible we can still see Him. Have you seen him who is invisible yet? Surrender your life to Jesus and make him Lord of your life and you will be able to see Him (by faith).

Application

Do you see where God is working? Jump in and join him!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, what an awesome God you are! You are invisible and yet we can see you. Lord, help me not to miss where you are working. Show me the people that you want me to encourage today. Thank you for people willing to help me. Thank you for Bobby that helped me move some stuff yesterday. Bless our church and help Brant and Faith today especially with the children’s event this afternoon. You are an awesome God. Amen.

God is Love; But God is Also Just!

Isaiah 15; Isaiah 16; Isaiah 17; Isaiah 18; Hebrews 10
Today’s "Life Journal" Daily Bible Reading can be found on Line. Click Here!

Scripture

30 For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Observation

Sometimes we may want to think that because God is love that He will overlook our sins…not! One day we all are going to fall into the hands of the living God and you better have had your sins forgiven before that day arrives. Jesus could return at anytime, maybe it will be today. Are you ready? If not then it will be a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. When I think of God’s hands I always think of protection and not of punishment, but his hands will do both. Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Encourage one another because “the Day” is approaching!

Application

Some folks have stopped coming to church…they are not encouraging anybody…we are to continue meeting together with one another and we are to continue encouraging one another. Who needs some encouragement today? Give them a call!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, when I think of your hands I think of how you have protected me. I think of how secure I am because of your care. I have never thought that you would forsake me not even for a minute. Thank you for taking care of me every moment and not just me but Kathy too. It is our desire to walk with you hand in hand until the day you take us home. Help us to be faithful to you. Thank you for providing so much for us. Thank you for so many good friends. Thank you for our church for every member from the babies to our senior adults.

Christmas in July!

Isaiah 8; Isaiah 9; Isaiah 10; Hebrews 8
Click Here To Read Today’s Daily Bible Reading

Scripture

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

Observation

Christmas is one of my most favorite times of the year! How about you? Wouldn’t it be great if we could celebrate Christmas again…say in…July! Today’s Devotional reading takes us to Isaiah 9 and it is one of my favorite passages to use at Christmas. I believe that this was written about 700 years before the birth of Christ. What a powerful prophecy about Jesus! Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…Jesus is all that and more!

Application

How about mediating on Isaiah 9:6-7 all day today! Let’s do it!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, you are Wonderful! What a powerful scripture to think about today. Lord, help us think about you more than anything else today. In the morning one of our church members will be going in for surgery. I pray that you touch her body and bring complete healing so that she might serve you again soon in our preschool. You are the Great Physician! You are Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Amen.

100% SAVED!

Micah 5; Micah 6; Micah 7; Hebrews 7
Click Here To Read Today’s Daily Bible Reading

Scripture

Hebrews 7

25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Observation

You know what bothers me…

It bothers me that some people don’t believe that God can save completely. They always want to add something to what Jesus did for us on the cross. Jesus lived a sinless life for 33 years then he voluntarily allowed himself to be crucified to pay the penalty for our sins. He poured out his blood on Calvary to purchase us. He now lives to intercede for us every moment of every day. Why or even how can you add, or want to add something to that…He is able to save completely…period!

Application

Jesus is our high priest and He is interceding for us right now! He has also given us the ministry of intercession. Who can you pray for right now?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, so many believers I know are struggling with issues that you can help them with. Lord, you know those that are on my heart right now. I pray that you will show yourself powerful in their lives and that you will help them to depend on you as they deal with these tough issues. Please give them strength to live above their circumstances and give them spiritual victories today.

Anchor for the Soul!

Micah 1; Micah 2; Micah 3; Micah 4; Hebrews 6
Today’s "Life Journal" Daily Bible Reading can be found on Line. Click Here!

Scripture

Hebrews 6

19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Observation

This past week while we were at the beach on vacation I learned how important an anchor is when you are fishing. I paddled my kayak out to a man made reef a good ways off the beach where we were staying and anchored above the reef. I believe to make the reef someone dumped concrete debris out there from an old bridge.

As I was fishing (not catching) I kept getting hung up on the old concrete below and l had to break off my line several times. When I got ready to leave I tried to pull up my anchor and it would not budge. After trying and trying to pull it up I decided to give up and leave it out on the reef; I really didn’t have any choice!

The rest of the week I fished but could never anchor and I had to just float around and could never stay in one place. For the entire week I couldn’t ever secure the kayak out in the water. Thank goodness we have an anchor for our soul that is firm and secure and we don’t have to be tossed about without hope.

Application

Do you need to be reminded that you have an anchor for your soul? Jesus is our hope. We are secure in Him. Are you being tossed about…then grab hold of the anchor that is firm and secure!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for providing an anchor for my soul that is firm and secure. Whatever life brings my way this week I know that my hope is in you. I am glad that you never lie and everything in your Word can be trusted. Help us as we go out on outreach tonight touch people’s lives for you. Empower us as a church to do your will. Bless our people today. You are a Wonderful, Powerful, and Mighty, God, who is worthy to be praised! Amen.

It is Not About Us!

Isaiah 4; Isaiah 5; Psalm 115; Psalm 116; Jude 1
Today’s "Life Journal" Daily Bible Reading can be found on Line. Click Here!

Scripture

Psalm 115

1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.

Observation

Have you ever felt slighted when someone gets the credit for something that you may have worked hard on and they may have hardly done anything?

Glory…needs to go to God…not us! We are soooooooooo concerned about ourselves and the credit that we think we deserve! We all need a good dose of Psalm 115:1. Being selfish comes so natural we don’t even have to work at it, but being selfless is a daily commitment. What will you and I choose to be today?

Application

Take time to give God the Glory that He deserves today!

Prayer

Lord, you are a wonderful Creator God. I am thoroughly enjoying your ocean today. In just a minute I am going back out to fish. And even if I don’t catch a thing I want to give you praise for providing me a great place to try to catch fish. It is to you and your name that I give Glory. Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. Amen.
