Scripture

1 Timothy 2

Instructions on Worship

1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

Observation

How many places in scripture do you find that tell you to pray for lost people? …very few. This is one of those rare places. Most of the time we are exhorted to pray for other believers, but here we see that we should also pray for people that do not know Christ. Sometimes from reading scripture we can be led to think that God wants some people to be saved and some people to be lost, but this passage clearly shows God’s heart on the matter, “who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. You and I are called to be heralds of this truth (verse 7).

Application

Who has God placed on your heart that needs to be saved? Pray for them today!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, the man I met yesterday has a church background but I don’t think he has a personal relationship with you. I pray for him today that he would understand the Truth and that the Truth would set him free. I pray that you would help him to be able to lead a life with meaning and purpose with you as His Lord and Savior. Speak to him clearly today and I pray for his salvation.

Eddy - I often forget to pray for the people in my life that don't know Christ, I usually find myself praying for my family and my church friends. I had a really neat experience Tuesday night - I invited my first "stranger" to church! I gave him your name and our church name & # and directions!! I must admit only b/c I was with my dad and my dad brought up the conversation of church to the waiter at Red Lobster - he was saying he's from Kentucky and he grew up in church (his name is Micah, which started the conversation) my dad told him that his church was mainly old folks but I went to a young people church and so I gave the guy our info and invited him!! I pray he does come and I know he would love our church just like I do. Thanks for the blogs it's always the highlight of my day! Sandra
