Scripture
Psalm 145
A psalm of praise. Of David.
1 I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name for ever and ever.
2 Every day I will praise you
and extol your name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
4 One generation will commend your works to another;
they will tell of your mighty acts.
5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works,
and I will proclaim your great deeds.
7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
9 The LORD is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
10 All you have made will praise you, O LORD;
your saints will extol you.
11 They will tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
12 so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The LORD is faithful to all his promises
and loving toward all he has made.
14 The LORD upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food at the proper time.
16 You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
18 The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
20 The LORD watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever.
Observation
I just got back last night from Cuba and I want to share with you about two people that I met while I was at the First (and only) Baptist Church at Rodas, Cuba. I love how and who God chooses to save. Milagros walked by the church on a regular basis and kept hearing the worship inside and she told me that she just loved to hear everyone singing. Finally she got up enough nerve to go inside and she placed her faith in Christ. She is the only person in her family that is a Christian, but she is praying and asking God to save the rest of her family. She has been a Christian about 2 years.
Norio came to Christ in a very unusual way also about 2 years ago. The church had been given some property by the government to build a new sanctuary on. The church’s old sanctuary had lost its roof in a hurricane and the government wanted to relocate a school so they made a property swap with the church.
Norio was hired as a night watchman to make sure that none of the materials for the new sanctuary were stolen. While he was guarding the church property he found some old music (hymns etc) that the pastor had stored in a storage room on the site. He began reading the music and some other literature and God touched his heart and he gave his life to Christ. The pastor told me that I would not have recognized him before he came to Christ. He had long hair, he had a long beard and was a pretty scruffy looking guy. Today he is a very sharp, clean cut young man with a powerful voice and incredible testimony!
Now he is the church’s worship leader and he does a tremendous job leading the church in praise and worship. His wife is also a strong believer in the Lord Jesus Christ! God is so good! I am so impressed by both of these people and what God has done in their lives.
Application
God is at work all around us and may touch the life of the most unlikely person we see. I will look for where He is working. What life is He beginning to touch around you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Amen.
