Do Not Be Afraid…
Scripture
Acts 18
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
Observation
Fear! The Lord told Paul not to be afraid probably because Paul was starting to be afraid. The Devil uses our “fears” to keep us from being all that God wants us to be. I like what the Lord told Paul in verse ten, “For I am with you…” If God is with us then we have it made. Nothing is going to happen to us that hasn’t passed through God’s hands before it reaches us.
What are you afraid of? The Devil knows where we are weak and that is where he will attack us.
There are two phrases that are used by God over and over again throughout the Bible: 1. Do not be afraid. 2. I am with you. If God is with us then there is no need to be afraid. If God is for us then it doesn’t matter if people are against us. God is good. He is with us. We do not need to fear.
Application
I will trust the Lord today and give Him all of my fears.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to walk with You by faith. Don’t let me be afraid. I know that You are with me. You are my Strength! You are my Confidence! I will not be afraid.
