What is Really Important?
Scripture
Galatians 5
14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Observation
We had just read a few weeks ago or maybe it was even just last week that the two greatest commandments in the Bible were, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself." Now Paul is summing up the entire law with the one statement, Love your neighbor as yourself." I think we have come across something very important in the word of God. We need to burn these verses into our very being.
Paul says that our natural tendency is to default to just the opposite kind of behavior. Our old nature is ugly and produces all kinds of bad stuff like: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these."
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
He also says that for believers we always have a battle going on between our two natures.
Application
I will spend time with the Lord so the fruit of the Spirit would win today's battle.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I want the fruit of Your Holy Spirit to be revealed through my life today.
