Matthew 20; Matthew 21; Matthew 22
“Love Your Neighbors
The Same
As You Love Yourself.”
Scripture
Matthew 22
37 Jesus answered, “‘Love the
Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
38 This is the first and most
important command.
39 And the second command is
like the first: ‘Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.’
40 All of the law and the writings
of the prophets take their meaning from these two commands.”
Observation
Love
your neighbor the same as you love yourself. Do you and I need a definition of
who is our neighbor? The story of the Good Samaritan covers that pretty well.
Anybody who has a need is considered our neighbor. Just look around and you
will quickly see that we have plenty of neighbors.
I
am concerned for someone who fits the description of a “neighbor”. How
about you?
Is there someone that you need to help in some way? Maybe they need
a meal. Maybe they need a friend. Maybe they are cold and need something as
simple as a blanket or a heater.
Application
I will reach out to this person and see how I can help
him/her stay warmer this winter.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me be a good neighbor to someone today.
