2 Kings 6; 2 Kings 7; 2 Chronicles 20; 1 Timothy 3
“For There Are More On
Our Side
Than On Theirs!”
Scripture
1 Timothy 3
15 When the servant of the man
of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops,
horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man
cried to Elisha.
16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha
told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw
that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.
Observation
One plus God = a majority! Greater is He that is in us
than he that is in the world!
I love this story!
Elisha can see the hillside filled with horses and chariots of fire, but
his servant can only see the enemy.
It is easy for us to see all of the opposition and all
the trouble and problems but not so easy to see God in the midst of our
circumstances.
Maybe we need a reminder today that there is more on our
side than theirs!
Application
I will remember today that I am on the winning team and
that God will take care of my family and me.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, over and over again in Your Word You tell us “not to be
afraid”. I know why You have to tell us over and over and over again because
our default button goes straight to fear and doubt. Help me today to be bold
and courageous. Help those around me trust in You. Your Word says, “You will rescue those who love You. You will protect those
who trust in Your name. When they call on You,
You will answer; You will be with them in trouble.” Psalm 91:14-15 {Eddy’s
paraphrase}
