Husbands Ought To Love Their Wives As They Love
Their Own Bodies
For
A Man Who Loves His Wife Actually Shows Love For
Himself.
Some
of us guys think that if we are mean, if we mistreat, if we verbally abuse the
woman in our lives, that it somehow helps us feel better about ourselves. It is
the “macho” mentality. It comes straight from the pit of Hell. It is a Lie.
Scripture
Ephesians 5
25 For husbands, this means love
your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her
26 to make her holy and clean, washed
by the cleansing of God’s word.
28 In the same way, husbands
ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves
his wife actually shows love for himself.
31 As the Scriptures say, “A man
leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united
into one.” 32 This
is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church
are one. 33 So again I
say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect
her husband.
Observation
Men,
you and I might be a little slow when it comes to how to love a woman, but I
think that these verses offer us some great advice!
Our
wife or the significant other in our life is to get the same pampered attention
that we give our own bodies!
Here
is the point that I don’t want you to miss, “A man who loves his woman actually
shows love for himself.”
Some
guys just don’t get this and they are wrecking and destroying a relationship
and destroying the person that God wants them to love!
Some

God
says, “A man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.”
Application
I
will try to help men realize that loving their wives or the special woman in
his life is a win-win proposition for them.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me to live out Ephesians 5 today with Kathy. Help me to pamper her
just like I care for my own body. Help me to love her just as Christ loved the
church. I pray for men that are abusive. I pray that You will turn their
hearts. Help them to love like Jesus Christ. Give them the ability to love
sacrificially. Work a miracle in their lives!
