It Was At Antioch That The Believers Were First Called Christians

It Was At Antioch
That The Believers
Were First Called Christians
Scripture
Acts 11
22 When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

23 When he arrived and saw this evidence of God’s blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord.

24 Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. And many people were brought to the Lord.

25 Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul. 26 When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. (It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)
Observation
We will always be ridiculed and made fun of by people that don't understand the message of the Gospel. It was at Antioch that believers were first called “Christians”. Unbelievers were making fun of the believers calling them “little Christs”, but the believers took it as a badge of honor and the name stuck.
Believers, or followers of the Lord Jesus Christ are to take the message of the Gospel to everyone, everywhere! Yes, we will get criticized for it. We will be made fun of and yes we will experience persecution, but the Gospel is for everyone!
Christians and Christian leaders in the USA are now being criticized by some when they encourage us to share the love of Christ with those of different nationalities, different religions, those with a different color of skin, those that may speak a different language other than English, that are coming to our country from all over the world.
Red and yellow, black and white, they are all precious in His sight, no matter where they happen to be on planet Earth!
Application
I will share the love of Christ with everyone that God brings into my life. How about you?
Prayer

Heavenly Father, it seems like some things never change. As I read Your Word I see that mankind has always misunderstood Your plan. You want everyone to be saved. You don't want anyone to be lost. And You have given us believers the ministry of reconciliation, the ministry of bringing people the message of Your saving love, the love of Jesus Christ. We don't get to pick and choose who gets to hear about Your love!
