And
Let Us Not Neglect Our Meeting Together,
As
Some People Do,
But
Encourage One Another …
Scripture
Hebrews
10
23 Let us
hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be
trusted to keep his promise.
25 And let
us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage
one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing
near.
Observation
If
you take a stick from a fire and set it off by itself you know that
it will smolder and finally quit burning. Satan will do everything in
his power to get you and me away from the body of Christ, His church.
He
is very subtle. He will use a disagreement, a disappointment, a major
conflict, a personal attack, he will use all sorts of things to get
us out of fellowship with other believers. Don't believe his lies.
Church is God's idea. And it is not something that is optional if you
are a true follower of Christ.
So
if you are a follower of Christ and have been deceived by Satan into
thinking that being out of church is okay, then let me, as clearly as
I can say this to you, say, you are believing a lie straight from
Hell and you are putting a big smile on Satan's face! He has you
right where he wants you – he has you out of fellowship.
Today
is Saturday. Plan right now to get yourself back in church tomorrow
so you can once again put a smile on God's face! Get into a small
group and engage in ministry – not just attend!
Application
I
will encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ to be faithful to
one another and not neglect being in community.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, it breaks my heart when I hear of people dropping out of
church. I know that they have been hurt, or slighted, maybe even
neglected by the church, but help them to see that they desperately
need to be in fellowship with other believers. Don't let them
continue to drift away from the Body of Christ. Work in their lives.
Bring people into their lives who will encourage them and who will
bring them back into fellowship.
