Today Paradise!

Nehemiah 3; Nehemiah 4; Luke 23

Scripture

Luke 23:43 “Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Observation

Jesus talking to the thief nailed to the cross next to him said, … “today you will be with me in Paradise.” The thief placed his faith and trust in Christ as Savior while they were being put to death. He only had time to trust Christ and die, there was no time to get down off the cross and go do good works. He was being promised a place in paradise simply because of his faith and nothing else! He was a criminal that deserved to die. He deserved physical death and he deserved eternal death, but today he is in paradise with Jesus. So the lesson for you and me is that we come to Christ by faith and not by works. Those that put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ will be with Him in paradise. One day, as Christ-followers will have the opportunity to talk to that thief and hear his story. For all those that reject Christ they get to listen to the other thief!


Application

Never give up on a person that has not yet accepted Christ. He/she may be like the thief on the cross and may trust in Christ in the last moments of his/her life. If you haven’t accepted Christ I would not put it off because you don’t know if there will be time to accept him later!


Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for saving me. Thank you for choosing to save people that don’t deserve it, like the thief on the cross and me!
