Scripture
Matthew 3
1 In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, 2 “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” 3 The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said,
“He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming!
Clear the road for him!’”
4 John’s clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey. 5 People from Jerusalem and from all of Judea and all over the Jordan Valley went out to see and hear John. 6 And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.
Observation
I would have liked to have seen and heard John the Baptist! He was a true prophet! He was rough. He was a man’s kind of man. His clothes were made out of coarse camel hair and he ate locusts and wild honey. I imagine that he was pretty intimidating don’t you think? He wasn’t scared of the religious leaders or political leaders of his day. He called the Pharisees and Sadducees a “brood of snakes!”
Application
May I be a bold witness like John the Baptist!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me be bold like John the Baptist. Help me be a faithful witness. I pray for my sister Linda today as she takes care of her son Jonathan now at home. Send her help for this task. I pray for Jonathan today that you totally heal him for your glory and for your honor. Provide for their every need and I pray that you show yourself Powerful and Mighty in their lives. In Jesus Name Amen.
