Scripture
Acts 17
24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.
26 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
27 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us.
Observation
If you think that the United States will always be strong and powerful you might want to take a look again at what the Bible has to say about that!
“His purpose was for the nations to seek after God …” Nations rise and nations fall and God decides all of that not us. But He blesses those nations that seek after Him … which definitely put us in the danger of falling zone doesn’t it because we are definitely no longer a nation seeking after Him.
Someone has made the point that you don’t find America listed anywhere in the Bible and there is no promise in the Bible that America will always be a nation.
All of that is a little unsettling except for the fact that my Heavenly Father is going to take care of me and anyone else that follows Him no matter what happens to our nation. I am concerned about the elections, but I know Who is ultimately in charge of it all – and believe me it is neither presidential candidate!
Application
I will not be shaken no matter who wins the White House!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I recognize that even though this world seems out of control I know that nothing gets by You unnoticed. And You have decided beforehand when nations should rise and fall, and You have determined their boundaries. So I am trusting in you.
