We Will Not Listen

To The Message

From The Lord That You Spoke To Us. 

 Worth reading today as we approach Sunday!

Scripture

Jeremiah 42

⁶ It doesn’t matter if we like the message or if we don’t like the message. We will obey the LORD our God. We are sending you to the Lord for a message from him. We will obey what he says. Then good things will happen to us. Yes, we will obey the LORD our God.”

Jeremiah 44

¹⁶ “We will not listen to the message from the LORD that you spoke to us.

Observation

The children of Israel were only going to listen to the message of the Lord if it fit into what they wanted to do. They wanted to go to Egypt – God said “No”! What He said didn’t agree with them so they rejected the Word of God. Things haven’t changed too much have they!

Do you believe the Word of God? 

Do you believe the entire Bible? You do? No you don’t. You only believe what you put into practice! 

What you ignore or what you flat out say, “No” to, these are the parts of God’s Word that you and I do not really believe. When we do that we are saying to God, “We can’t and won’t trust you”. 

For example: Some of you have quit going to church – God says in His Word, Go to church! When you don’t go to church you are saying to God, “I will not listen to the message from the Lord.” 

It is a scary thing to do stuff like that. Have you read the book of Jeremiah lately?

We are blessed when we hear and obey the Word of God 

Jesus replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." Luke 11:28

Application

It is my desire to obey God’s Word today. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, show me where I am not obedient. Don’t let me be like those that wouldn’t listen to your prophet Jeremiah. I know that obedience and blessing go hand in hand. I pray for Pastor Bruce and his family today. I pray that you prepare his heart for the message that you will bring to us through him. Use what He says to change lives. I pray that You encourage him today. I pray that You give him energy. I pray that You answer his prayers. I pray that You give him the desires of his heart. And I pray that You make his plans successful.
