Run
To Win!
Scripture
24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize?
So run to win!
25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
Observation
The
Christian life is a race! It is not a wind sprint it is a marathon. At the end
of the race we don’t receive a prize that will sit on and gather dust. We run
for a crown. We run for an eternal prize!
I
like what the writer of Hebrews says about this race:
So let’s strip off anything that has been holding us back!
Don’t let discouragement sideline us this morning. Let’s get up. Let’s get back into the race.
I know that it is Monday! We are looking ahead at a new and challenging week.
Let’s run well!
Application
As
I run the race called life today I will keep my eyes on Jesus, the champion of
my faith. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I have to admit that I have been
discouraged by the details of life. So many things seem to work against me that
slow me down in this race of life. Help me keep my eyes on Jesus as I run this
race. I want to finish well. Give me the strength I need to stay in this
marathon called life.
