O LORD,
What Are Human Beings
That You Should Notice Them
Traveling at the speed of light, 186,000 miles per second, it would take us 39.5 light years to travel the 237 trillion miles to reach Trappist-1 where scientists say there are 7 planets with 3 that could support life! When I heard the news about this discovery I just smiled! What a great and mighty God we serve!
Scripture
Psalm 144
3 O Lord, what are human beings that you should notice them,
mere mortals that you should think about them?
4 For they are like a breath of air;
their days are like a passing shadow.
When I heard the news about this discovery I just smiled! What a great and mighty God we serve! How Big is Our God!
And to think that He just spoke all of this into existence!
And even more amazing than that is that this Creator God would choose to love us and be concerned about us.
Oh, so Amazing!
---- ---- ---- ----
Psalm 147
4 He counts the stars
and calls them all by name.
5 How great is our Lord! His power is absolute!
His understanding is beyond comprehension!
Psalm 36
6 The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.
Psalm 8
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
Isaiah 40
Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.
Isaiah 45
11 This is what the Lord says—
the Holy One of Israel and your Creator:
“Do you question what I do for my children?
Do you give me orders about the work of my hands?
12 I am the one who made the earth
and created people to live on it.
With my hands I stretched out the heavens.
All the stars are at my command.
Colossians 1
15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
Application
You see me when I travel and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. (Psalm 139:1-14 personalized)
