For We Know That When This Earthly Tent We Live In Is Taken Down, … We Will Have A House In Heaven.

For We Know That When This Earthly Tent
We Live In Is Taken Down, …
We Will Have A House In Heaven.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 4
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
2 Corinthians 5
1 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.

We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.

For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies.

While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life.

God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.

So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.
For we live by believing and not by seeing.
2 Corinthians 6
4 In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
5 We have been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.
8 We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors.
9 We are ignored, even though we are well known. We live close to death, but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.
10 Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
Observation
If these verses don't mean something special to you, you are either very, very young or maybe you don't know God at all!
These verses mean a lot to me!
I think that the Apostle Paul was being very honest when he wrote these three chapters. His body had taken a real beating. How many of us have “been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food”, like the Apostle Paul?
Pain … Whether it is physical or emotional, hopefully, will push us to a closer relationship with the Lord. All of us are going to experience pain in both varieties while we live in this 'tent' on planet earth.
Maybe you are up to your eyeballs in pain right now – go to God who raises the dead!
2 Corinthians 1:9
In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.”
Application
I will never give up!
How about you?
2 Corinthians 4:1
Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
For we live by believing and not by seeing.
Prayer

Heavenly Father, in this life there is so much pain. It either comes as physical pain or emotional pain but every day it continues to come. In this world we will have trouble, that is what Jesus told us, and it is so true. I am so glad that this place is not my home. And I am glad that one day I will get a brand new body, one that will be pain-free and that will last forever! Thank You for that promise. Thank You for all the promises that You give me in Your Word.
I pray for those who are experiencing terrible pain right now. Help them to rely on You. In the midst of their pain, Lord, bring them joy!
