O
Lord, Our Lord,
Your
Majestic Name Fills The Earth!
Your
Glory Is Higher Than The Heavens.
Scripture
1 O Lord,
our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your
glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You
have taught children and infants
to tell
of your strength,
silencing your enemies
and
all who oppose you.
3 When
I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the
moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what
are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human
beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet
you made them only a little lower than God
and
crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You
gave them charge of everything you made,
putting
all things under their authority—
7 the
flocks and the herds
and all the wild
animals,
8 the
birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and
everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O Lord,
our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Observation
Psalm
8:3-4 in the MESSAGE version of the Bible say this, “I look
up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous, your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings. Then I look at my
micro-self and wonder, Why do you bother with us? Why take a second
look our way?
Why
does God bother with us? He has created the vast Universe with
billions and billions of stars with so many above us that it is
impossible for us to even begin to count them and yet He knows each
one of them and calls them all by name! ... Oh, why does He bother
thinking about us?
Yet
He does. Even as rotten and sinful as we are -- He loves us!
Psalm
147:4
4 He counts
the stars
and calls them all by name.
Romans
5:8
“But
God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us
while we were still sinners.”
17 How
precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They
cannot be numbered!
18 I
can’t even count them;
they outnumber
the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you
are still with me!
John
3:16
16 “For
this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so
that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal
life.
Romans
8
38 And
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.
Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our
fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers
of hell can separate us from God’s love.
39 No
power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all
creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that
is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Application
I
am fearfully and wonderfully made!
Psalm
139:14
14 Thank you
for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your
workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I echo what the Psalmist says in Psalm 8, “O Lord, our
Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!” I don't know why You
love me, but I am thankful that You do. I don't deserve Your love.
There is not one human being alive on this Earth that deserves Your
love and yet You still love us! You are amazing!
