Repenting is a Two Step Process

Scripture

Matthew 4

17 From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Observation

You can’t become a Christ-follower unless you do these two things:

1. Turn from sin
2. Turn from self directed living. Then turn to God and put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Your life must turn around.

People sometimes seem to want it both ways; they say they want eternal life, but at the same time they are unwilling to turn from a life of sin and self-directed living. You can’t have a relationship with God until you repent, which means to turn from sin and self and turn to God.

Application

Jesus answered Satan’s temptations by quoting the Word of God and refusing to give in to his offers. When temptations come I will use scripture to protect myself from our enemy Satan.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to continue memorizing Your Word. I pray for men and women to repent and turn to You today through the ministry of our church.
