You Must Believe In People!

Scripture

Judges 6

12 The angel of the LORD appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the LORD is with you!”

Observation

The Lord came to Gideon as he was threshing out wheat hiding down in a winepress. He was hiding because he was scared of the Midianites. God comes to him while he is down there hiding and greets him with this greeting, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” I think that at that moment Gideon began looking around for the person that the Lord was speaking to because he sure didn’t consider himself a “Mighty hero”. At that moment he wasn’t the Mighty hero, but the Lord saw the potential in Gideon. And as you read today’s Bible reading Gideon became God’s Mighty hero by the end of chapter seven!

We have to see the potential in the people around us. We must believe in them. They may rise or fall depending on our expectations of them. Who can you help live up to their potential …how? … By giving them an encouraging word today?

Application

I will look for the best in people and encourage them to live up to their potential.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to believe in others and help me to encourage them to become all that God wants them to be.
