Until 

You Count The Cost

Scripture

Luke 14

²⁶ “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.

²⁸ “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?

Observation

Do we want to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ? If we do then Jesus says that we should count the cost. You and I must put Him above everyone else and above everything else. He must be Number One!

I want to be His disciple no matter what the cost. There is nothing more in life I would rather do than follow Christ and live for Him. How about you?

 Application

I will follow Christ today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me be faithful and trustworthy. Help me to follow You with all of my heart. Don’t let me be anything less than what You have called me to be. Give me strength today to walk in obedience. Direct my thoughts and actions today so I please You. I pray for those around me who need to put You first in their lives. I pray that You turn their hearts towards You so they can experience the abundant life that You meant for them to know. Nothing is too hard for You.
