Live Clean,
Innocent Lives As Children Of God,
Shining Like Bright Lights In A World Of Crooked And Perverse People.
Scripture
Philippians 2
15 “… Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.”
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Observation
We are commanded to stay away from all appearance of evil!
Warning after warning after warning, God’s Word tells us over and over again to live clean lives as children of God.
If you are a child of God and you have been drawn back into the pigpen to wallow in the slop of sinful living then there is no more dangerous place for you to be.
You and I are called to live clean innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights.
The pigpen may bring you momentary comfort and pleasure. Living in the pigpen may even be an easier way to make money than a committing yourself to a job that requires hard work, but it will destroy you and it will destroy your family in the end.
When you and I return to the old way of life and dabble in things that are not clean we remove ourselves and our family out from under the umbrella of God’s protection and grace, and that my friend is a very dangerous place to be.
Repent right now…get out of the pigpen!
Let’s live clean, innocent lives as children of God. Let’s shine as bright lights in this dark world full of crooked and perverse people!
Application
I
will ask God to show me anything in my life that is not pleasing to Him that is
keeping my light from shining. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I know that the prince of this world, Satan, will use anything and
everything to try to destroy us. He is a deceiver. He makes the things of this
world look attractive to us. He wants to lure us in and then destroy us.
I pray
for those in my family. If they are in the pigpen of life show them the way
out. Help the men in my small group to live godly lives. Help them to recognize
the “pigpen” and give them strength to shine and not wallow in the slop. Help
us all to live clean lives before You today. Give all of us the strength and
the wisdom to stay away from sinful living that ends in destruction.
