They,
Too, Observed The Lord's Power In Action,
His
Impressive Works On The Deepest Seas.
He
Calmed The Storm To A Whisper And Stilled The Waves!
Scripture
Psalm
107
24 They, too,
observed the Lord’s power in action,
his impressive works on
the deepest seas.
25 He spoke, and the winds rose,
stirring
up the waves.
26 Their ships were tossed to the heavens
and
plunged again to the depths;
the sailors cringed in terror.
27
They reeled and staggered like drunkards
and were at their
wits’ end.
28 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
29 He calmed the storm
to a whisper
and stilled the waves.
30 What a blessing was
that stillness
as he brought them safely into harbor!
31
Let them praise the Lord for his great love
and for the
wonderful things he has done for them.
Observation
I
love a good thunderstorm, but I do not like devastating storms like
Harvey or Irma!
I
love to see the mighty power of God on display in a thunderstorm!
Hurricanes
are a part of a fallen creation. Creation that has been negatively
affected by the consequences of sin.
I
personally don't think Hurricanes are under God's direction unless He
intervenes and changes the storm's path. I believe that the prince of
this world, Satan, controls the weather on planet Earth most of the
time, with God intervening at the request of His children.
Of
course, God is Sovereign. Yes, God is ultimately the One in control.
But
God (I think) has obviously given Satan some wiggle room to cause
misery and havoc on this planet using natural disasters.
They
fit in perfectly with Satan's job description as “destroyer”.
Application
I
will cry out to the Lord asking Him to keep the storm in the
Atlantic. How about you?
Psalm
107
28
“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and he saved
them from their distress.
29 He calmed the storm to a whisper
and stilled the waves.
30 What a blessing was that stillness
as he brought them safely into harbor!
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I pray, along with thousands of Your children, asking You to
change the direction of this storm. I pray that it turn north and
stay out in the Atlantic. I pray for the safety of those in its path.
You are All-Powerful. Nothing is too hard for You.
