“Jesus, Remember Me When You Come Into Your Kingdom.”
“Jesus,
Remember Me
When
You
Come Into Your Kingdom.”
Scripture
Luke
23
39
One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the
Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while
you’re at it!”
40 But the other
criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been
sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man
hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember
me when you come into your Kingdom.”
Observation
This
was a sinner's prayer for sure. This criminal, by his own admission,
deserved to die for his sins.
Hey
… You and I, according to God's Word, deserve to die for our sins
too! (Romans
6:23)
Both
criminals were nailed to crosses right next to Jesus, one recognized
Jesus for who He was, Savior, and moments before his death he placed
his faith and trust in Him.
You
and I are no different than the two thieves on the crosses next to
Jesus. We are sinners.
Salvation
is offered to us as a free gift. You and I can't work for it. We
can't earn it by being good. It is “gifted” to us when we pray
and ask for it.
If
you were to die today where would you spend Eternity? If you were at
Heaven's gate and God asked you, “Why should I let you into my
Heaven?” What would you say to Him?
Luke
13:3
Acts
4:12
“There
is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven
by which we must be saved.”
John 3:16
“For
this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so
that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal
life.
Application
I
will share the Good News that Jesus saves with everyone that I can.
How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I pray for anyone reading this blog that has not surrendered
his or her life to You. Soften their hearts and give them the
spiritual understanding so that they can place their faith and trust
in Jesus Christ. Thank You for allowing us to know this story about
the thieves on the crosses next to Jesus and showing us that it is
not good people that go to Heaven and bad people that go to Hell but
that it is forgiven people that receive Eternal Life!
