Silence! Be Still! Suddenly The Wind Stopped, And There Was A Great Calm.

Silence! Be Still!
Suddenly
The Wind Stopped, And There Was A Great Calm.
Scripture
Mark 4
35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” 36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
Observation
So why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?

We serve an All-Powerful God. Jesus Christ is Lord over all! Nothing, absolutely nothing is too hard for Him. So why are you and I still afraid?
We are God's children. So why in the world should we be afraid.
People that have never been in a boat during a storm can't appreciate it as much as those of us who have. When the wind is blowing in a storm it takes a long time for those waves to settle down even after the wind has stopped, but that is not the case when Jesus is in the boat!
So since all of us have either just come out of a storm, are presently going through a storm in our life, or getting ready to head into a storm wouldn't it be smart for us to let Jesus take care of all of our storms!
There are 365 “Fear Not” verses in the Bible! One for each day of the year! I think that the Lord is trying to tell us something!
Isaiah 41:10
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
3 Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!

Application

I will trust Jesus to take care of all of my storms. How about you?
1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he caresabout you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have promised to take care of me. Remind me every time that I am afraid that You are right there to take care of me. I pray for anyone reading this blog that is dealing with a storm right now. Give them faith. Show them that You can and that You are willing to calm their storm. Show them that they can trust in You.
