She's A Sinner!

She's
A
Sinner!
Scripture
Luke 7
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!”
40 Then Jesus answered his thoughts. “Simon,” he said to the Pharisee, “I have something to say to you.”
Go ahead, Teacher,” Simon replied.
41 Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. 42 But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?”
43 Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.”“That’s right,” Jesus said.
44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
45 You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.
47 “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”
48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”
Observation
If God were to put all of our sins that we have committed up on a large screen for everyone to see, all of us would be deeply embarrassed and everyone who looked at that screen would be shocked by what they were able to see.
You and I are sinners. We need to be forgiven. We need a Savior!
As we read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) we find that Jesus reaches out to people just like you and just like me.
So let me ask you, “In this story that we find this morning in Luke 7 are you and I more like Simon the Pharisee or are we more like the sinful woman kneeling at Jesus' feet”?
Okay, I will answer for myself ... I am a sinner.
Now, how about you?
Romans 5:8
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 8:1
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Application
I am a sinner that has been forgiven of my sins. When I sin (because I am still a sinner) I will confess my sins as soon as I commit them and not let them pile up!
How about you?
1 John 1:9
9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You love me just the way I am. But You love me too much to let me stay the way I am. You are always working in my life to make me more like Your Son Jesus. Bring conviction to my life every time I sin so I will confess my sin as soon as I commit them. Help me to stay in Your Word every day and help me to obey what I read.
I pray for James Hartley and Evangeline Bertloff who are both in the hospital. I pray for healing and strength. Encourage them today.
Psalm 119:9,11
How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word. I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You.”
Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 18,19; Psalms 3; Luke 7; I added: Psalm 7, Psalm 67, Proverbs 7
