Redeemed From the Empty Way of Life!

Isaiah 36-37; Psalm 76; 1 Peter 1

Scripture

I Peter 1: 8-9 “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

Observation

In John 10:10, Jesus says, “I have come that you may have life and have it to the full". Peter says that we have been redeemed from the empty way of life. Life without Christ is empty. It has no purpose or meaning. Most people in this world are living the “empty way of life”. They are trying to fill their life with the pleasures of; drugs, sex, alcohol, materialism etc. There is only one thing that can fill the empty void in every life and that is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Application

I am thankful that my life is full of meaning and purpose. Many people that are trying to fill that void in their lives with the things of this world have fallen into addictions (which are never satisfied) need a relationship with Jesus.



Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me such an abundant life. Thank you for redeeming me from the empty way of life. Help me to help those caught in addictions; those caught in the empty way of life find you!
