Looking Forward to What Lies Ahead!
Scripture
Philippians 3
13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Observation
Focus…it is so easy to lose! Life’s little problems and life’s big problems seem to rob our focus away from what is really important. Paul said that his life was focused on the future and that he wasn’t going to live in the past.
Are you living focused on all of God’s promises or are you floundering stuck with the failures of your past? Paul had plenty of past mess ups, but he wasn’t going to live in them. You and I don’t have to stay there either we can live focused on the race that God has set before us. Paul says that there is a heavenly prize waiting for us, and Jesus is cheering us on.
So don’t give up stay focused. Stay in the race.
Don’t let the Gulf oil crisis that is happening today cause you to doubt God’s love and care for you.
Application
I will stay focused on what is ahead and I will not allow myself to get stuck on what has happened in the past.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to walk by faith and not by sight. Help me not to worry about anything and help me to pray about everything. I pray that You would give the experts wisdom so they can stop the oil leak in the Gulf. I realize that You could stop the leak in the blink of an eye if You chose to do so. Nothing is too hard for You. And I pray for my son Eddie today on his birthday I pray that You continue to bless him and continue to show him the way to live. Give him many years on this earth to serve and worship You.
