Life is Not a Cake Walk

Scripture

2 Timothy 3

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Observation

“Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” so can I point out a couple of very important words in that phrase, “everyone” and “will be”, I do believe that includes me … how about you?

Sometimes I think that we feel that the Christian life should be one big party, but that is not what I read as I read the New Testament. As I read about the life of Paul and Peter I don’t see an easy comfy Christian life lived out, but on the contrary I see two men engaged in a battle. Battles are bloody and painful. Life is not supposed to be easy. Ministry is not supposed to be a piece of cake. Ministry involves “people” so it is messy and difficult. But God says to love Him and to love people … period. So get over it. Dig in and get ready for battle.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

Application

I will depend on the Lord today because He is my Strength. He is my Fortress. He is my Rock.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to remember as I go through this day that life is not easy. It was never meant to be easy. We are engaged in a spiritual battle. It is my desire to fight the good fight of faith today. Help me keep my eyes on you. I pray that you help me serve You with all my heart today.
