We Can Demolish Strongholds

Who Needs To Be Set Free?

Scripture

2 Corinthians 10

³ For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. ⁴ The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. ⁵ We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The truth is that, although of course we lead normal human lives, the battle we are fighting is on the spiritual level. The very weapons we use are not those of human warfare but powerful in God’s warfare for the destruction of the enemy’s strongholds. 

Observation

The battle all around us every day is on a spiritual level. No matter what you are dealing with or struggling with it is on a spiritual level if you are a Child of God. We are in a battle. It is a spiritual battle. It is spiritual warfare. The great news is that God has equipped us for battle and He has provided us our weapons. We are armed for the battle! And we can be victorious!

What are some of our weapons? The most important weapon in our arsenal is Prayer. You and I as Christ Followers have the privilege of calling on our Heavenly Father to intervene in our struggles. He can and He will fight for us when we go to Him in prayer and ask Him for help. 

His Word is another weapon we have at our disposal. Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

So what or who are you doing battle with? How about going to the Lord in prayer and crying out to Him and ask Him for help? How about going to God’s word and take the time to look up every promise that will help you deal with what you are facing. 

Application

I will continue to depend on God’s weapons for the spiritual battles that I face. How about you? 

Prayer

Heavenly Father, there are so many verses in Your Word that tell me that I can come boldly into your presence and ask You for help. I know that You hear me and I know that You love to help me deal with everything that goes on during my day. I pray for those who are engaged in serious battles right now. Help them to see that these are spiritual battles and these battles must be fought on a spiritual level. You are the Mighty God. Nothing is too hard for You.
