Abraham Believed In The God Who Brings The Dead Back To Life And Who Creates New Things Out Of Nothing
Abraham
Believed In The God
Who
Brings The Dead Back To Life
And
Who Creates New Things Out Of Nothing
Scripture
Romans
4
17
… Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and
who creates new things out of nothing.
18 Even when
there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he
would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him,
“That’s how many descendants you will have!”
19 And
Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of
age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s
womb.
20 Abraham
never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew
stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.
21 He was
fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. 22 And
because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.
Observation
I
don't know about you but I have been praying and praying for a long,
long time for some people very close to me.
For
years and years now I have been praying for them and asking God to
change the direction of their lives.
And
until the day I die I will never stop praying for them.
I
am fully convinced that my God is able to do whatever He promises.
Even
though it seems like there is no reason for hope, I will keep hoping.
I will never give up praying for them!
Who
is on your impossible list?
Pray
and never give up!
2
Corinthians 10
3 We
are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We
use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the
strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
Luke
18
1
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should
always pray and never give up.
I
Timothy 2
1
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help
them; intercede on
their behalf, and give thanks for them.
Application
I
will continue to pray for those in my family who are not walking with
the Lord. I will never quit praying for them. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me to never give up hope on those in my family who right
now are not walking in a close relationship with You. I don't
understand why they are not. But … I am going to continue to trust
in You to work in their hearts and to draw them to Yourself and to
turn them around, back in Your direction. Only You are capable of
changing their hearts. You have told me to never give up on them.
Show me just how powerful You are by changing their lives! I do
believe that nothing is too hard for You.

Always Be Joyful. Never Stop Praying. Be Thankful In All Circumstances
Always
Be Joyful.
Never
Stop Praying.
Be
Thankful In All Circumstances
Scripture
1
Thessalonians 5
Observation
What
kind of a mess do you and I find ourselves in today?
Well
if we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ these verses describe how we
are supposed to react when life seems to be going against us.
By
the way, I hope that you have learned that the words “always,
never, and all” are probably not good words to use when you are
talking to your spouse.
For
instance; You “never” do this … you “always” do that …
you are “all” the time bringing old stuff up that happened 10
years ago!
But
with God these 3 words are very good words that He can use with us
because He always keeps His promises. He never stops loving us. And
He is All-Powerful.
Application
I
will be joyful, thankful today in the middle of my circumstances, and
I will never stop praying.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me to always be joyful. Help me to never stop talking to
You about everything. And help me to be thankful in all circumstances
no matter how bad things are at the moment and no matter how bad
things might become in the future! You are my Heavenly Father and You
will take care of every detail of my life.

And May The Lord Make Your Love For One Another And For All People Grow And Overflow, Just As Our Love For You Overflows.
And
May The Lord Make Your Love For One Another
And
For All People Grow And Overflow,
Just
As Our Love For You Overflows.
Scripture
1
Thessalonians 3
12 And
may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow
and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.
Observation
When
something overflows it splashes on everything ... that is how we are
supposed to love people – all people!
We
don't get to pick and choose who we are going to love –
God
loves all people … remember the song that you may have sung in
Sunday School or Vacation Bible School … Jesus loves the little
children, all the children of the world, red, yellow, black and white
they are precious in His sight ... you and I are commanded to do the
same.
I
am sure that you have noticed that God is bringing the world to the
America!
May
they see and experience the love of Christ … may it splash on them
from us!
Luke
6
27 “But to
you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to
those who hate you. 28 Bless those who curse you. Pray for those
who hurt you.
1
Thessalonians 3:11-13 MESSAGE
May
God our Father himself and our Master Jesus clear the road to you!
And may the Master pour on the love so it fills your lives
and splashes over on everyone around you, just as it does from
us to you. May you be infused with strength and purity, filled with
confidence in the presence of God our Father when our Master Jesus
arrives with all his followers.
Acts
10
34 Then
Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no
favoritism. 35 In every nation
he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.
Application
I
want to be so filled with God's love that it splashes on everyone
around me. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, thank You for all the different people that You have brought
into my life. Help me to share your love with all of them. Guard my
heart against all types of prejudice. Help me to love who and what
You love and hate what You hate. Give me Your heart for the people
that You bring into my life … every single one of them. You have no
favorites!

The Lord Is My Fortress, Protecting Me From Danger, So Why Should I Tremble?
The
Lord
Is
My Fortress, Protecting Me From Danger,
So
Why Should I Tremble?
Scripture
Psalm
27
1 The Lord is
my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.
3 Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident.
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.
3 Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident.
Observation
I
don't know how much time you spend reading the Psalms, but as you can
probably see Eddy doesn't go too many days without reading a Psalm or
two.
Today
it was three!
Psalm
27 and Psalm 57 both deal with King David and how he handled being
attacked by people that opposed him. He spent a lot of his time on
the run being hunted down by people that wanted to kill him.
Maybe
you and I don't have people that want to kill us, but we probably all
have, if we are honest enough to admit it, people that oppose us and
seem to want to do us harm.
I
want everybody to like me, and you probably do too, but I am sorry to
inform you my friend, but that is not going to happen.
Jesus
was perfect and they crucified Him. You and I are not perfect, but if
we are striving to be like Jesus then we will face opposition and
persecution! Count on it!
These
people that are rubbing us the wrong way are God's spiritual
sandpaper. God will use these folks to sand us off and shape us.
We
are a work in progress. God is sanding off our rough edges to make us
more like His Son Jesus. Do we like it? No way, because it is very,
very painful.
Application
So
as I deal with the difficult people in my life I will hold on to
passages like Psalm 27 and Psalm 57 and a whole lot of other passages
in God's Word knowing that He has my back, He is on my side, and He
will take care of me. … How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I will wait patiently for You, Lord. I will be brave and
courageous. Yes, I will wait patiently for You.

You Keep Track Of All My Sorrows.
You
Keep
Track
Of
All My Sorrows.
Psalm
56
8 You
keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
Observation
It
is true that God does not waste a hurt.
He
is always teaching us and somehow today's hurts can be used to help
and comfort someone else tomorrow, but He also keeps track of all our
sorrows.
All
of our grief and pain expressed in tears, according to David are
collected in God's bottle and He has recorded each one in His book!
It
is good to know that my God not only feels the pain that I experience
when I am wronged, but that He also keeps track of it. He is not
going to forget it.
Are
you hurting today? Have you been wronged? Are you grieving?
Psalm
56:9-11
9 My
enemies will retreat when I call to you for help.
This I know: God is on my side! 10 I praise God for what he has
promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what he has
promised.11 I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What
can mere mortals do to me?
Application
When
I am wronged I will remember that God is on my side. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, You know just how I feel. You are keeping track of my pain
and my sorrow. I pray for those who cause us sadness, pain and
tears. I want to see their lives changed and I want to see them
walking with You. Do what ever it takes to change their hearts. Show
me what I can do to make things different. I know that You are on my
side. I praise You Lord for all that You have promised. I trust in
You, so why should I be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? You

Love Your Neighbor As Yourself.
Love
Your
Neighbor
As
Yourself.
Scripture
Matthew
22
29 Jesus
replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know
the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.
34 But
when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his
reply, they met together to question him again.
37 Jesus
replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with
all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
38 This is
the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally
important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Observation
People,
no matter who they are, who think that they are better than someone
else, superior to someone else, just because of the color of their
skin, don't know the Scriptures very well and they don't know the
power of God.
Anyone
who reads the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John can plainly see
that Jesus' loved those who were looked down upon or marginalized by
society, like tax collectors, prostitutes, the diseased (lepers), the
crippled, and especially the Samaritans.
There
is no room for prejudice in our hearts if we are seeking to put God
and His kingdom first! Nip it in the bud!
Application
I will guard my
heart against prejudice. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, it is evident that we live in a fallen world. We are all
sinners and that fact is very evident by how we treat each other.
Help me to love people the way You love them. Don't let me think for
a minute that I am better than someone else. Help me to put the needs
of others above my own. Give me Your heart for those around me.

Jesus Looked At Them Intently And Said, “Humanly Speaking, It Is Impossible, But With God Everything Is Possible.”
Jesus
Looked At Them Intently And Said,
“Humanly
Speaking, It Is Impossible,
But
With God Everything Is Possible.”
Scripture
Matthew
19
23 Then
Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is very
hard for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
24 I’ll
say it again—it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a
needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”
26 Jesus
looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is
impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Observation
In
the Old Testament we do see how God blessed people like Job, Abraham,
Jacob, and others with wealth and it must have been an assumption
that most rich people were rich because they had God's hand of
blessing on them.
The
disciples were shocked at what Jesus said in verses 23 & 24 of
Matthew 19 and so they asked Him, “Then who in the world can be
saved?”
It
is a great question for us today?
Humanly
speaking, you and I can't save ourselves by being good and we can't
do enough good things to get ourselves into Heaven.
In
December we will celebrate the birth of a Savior ... Jesus Christ!
Do
you know Him?
Acts
4:12
12 There
is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven
by which we must be saved.”
Romans
10:9-10,13
9 If you
openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is
by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it
is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
… 13 For
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will
be saved.
Application
I
will continue to share the Good News with people that Jesus Saves!
How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, this is the time of the year when people seem to be most open
to spiritual things. So I pray that You penetrate the hearts of those
close to us that are still trying to live life like You do not exist.
I pray for their salvation. Use anything Lord to get their attention.
Please do whatever it takes to change their hearts. I want them to be

It's Not What Goes Into Your Mouth That Defiles You; You Are Defiled By The Words That Come Out Of Your Mouth.
It's
Not What Goes Into Your Mouth
That
Defiles You; You Are Defiled
By
The Words That Come Out Of Your Mouth.
Scripture
Matthew
15
11 It’s
not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by
the words that come out of your mouth.”
15 Then
Peter said to Jesus, “Explain to us the parable that says people
aren’t defiled by what they eat.”
16 “Don’t
you understand yet?” Jesus asked.17 “Anything you eat
passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. 18 But
the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you.
19 For
from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual
immorality, theft, lying, and slander. 20 These are what
defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.”
Observation
I
read while I was preparing for a sermon last week on giving thanks,
called “Putting your attitude of gratitude into action” that we
Americans will eat 46 million turkeys, 50 million pies, and consume
4,500 calories today on Thanksgiving!
We
are a blessed nation! So for all of us who will make pigs out of
ourselves today as we celebrate this special day set aside to give
thanks to our God, let us remember that “it is not what goes into
our mouth that defiles us; we are defiled by the words that come out
of our mouth.”
What
is in our hearts is revealed through our mouths – lets be kind and
gentle with each other this Thanksgiving!
And
it is not enough to have an “attitude of gratitude” … you and I
need to stop and give thanks to God for all that He has done for us!
Happy
Thanksgiving!
Psalm
19
14 May the
words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Psalm
100
4 Enter
his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
Application
I
will be careful with the words that come out of my mouth today and I
will not be too worried about how much food goes in it! How about
you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be
pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. I give You thanks
today for all that You have done for me and my family. We are
blessed. I pray for anyone that is reading this blog this morning

“Come To Me, All Of You Who Are Weary And Carry Heavy Burdens, And I Will Give You Rest.”
“Come
To Me, All Of You Who Are Weary
And
Carry Heavy Burdens,
And

Matthew
11
28 Then
Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry
heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my
yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at
heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Observation
Life
is too brutal for you and I to live it without Jesus!
If
the words “tired and weary” seem to perfectly describe how we
feel this morning then I know just what you and I need to do. We need
to spend some time with Jesus.
This
song just popped into my head, “Just have a little talk with
Jesus”. Here are a couple of lines from this old song, “And
just a little talk with my Jesus made me whole ... (Now let us) have
a little talk with Jesus (let us) tell him all about our troubles”.
Jesus
says, “Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.”
Application
I
am spending time with Jesus right now. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me slow down. Help me to stop and spend time with You.
Thank You for taking care of us when everything seemed to be breaking
all at once. Thank You that I can find rest for my weary soul in
Jesus Christ this morning and every morning. I am so grateful that I

When Jesus Heard This, He Was Amazed.
When
Jesus
Heard
This,
He
Was Amazed.
Scripture
Matthew
8
5 When
Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with
him, 6 “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and
in terrible pain.”
8 But
the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my
home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be
healed.
9 I know
this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I
have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and
they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do
this,’ they do it.”
Observation
I
don't know about you, but I want to have this kind of faith!
I
love this story!
The
Roman officer, a centurion, believed that Jesus could heal his sick
and paralyzed servant from a distance.
Jesus
offered to go to his home and heal the servant, but the centurion
said to Him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home.
Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.”
Who
needs for us to talk to Jesus on their behalf?
Lets
do it with this kind of amazing faith!
Application
I
will pray for people, believing that my God can heal them no matter
where they are! How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me to have the kind of amazing faith like the centurion
had when he asked Jesus to heal his servant. Lord, I know that the
only reason that I am still alive today is because so many people
prayed for me and You answered their prayers. It was their amazing
faith in You that saved me. They refused to give up even when the
doctors gave very little hope that I would make it. I am so glad that
people did not stop praying for me. Give me that kind of faith! I
know that the same Power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives
in me!

That Is Why I Tell You Not To Worry About Everyday Life –
That
Is Why
I
Tell You
Not
To Worry About Everyday Life –
Scripture
Matthew
6
19 “Don’t
store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust
destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 Store
your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and
thieves do not break in and steal.
24 “No one
can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you
will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God
and be enslaved to money.
25 “That
is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have
enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more
than food, and your body more than clothing?
Observation
Last
night I was awake and thinking about things at about 3 in the morning
… and yes, I caught myself worrying about everyday life. When I
realized it I turned my thoughts to the people that I needed to pray
for and immediately I thought of a woman named Helen that I met
yesterday. She has been in wheel chair paralyzed from the waist down
for the past 5 years, but who told me that she was beginning to have
feeling in her legs.
“Don’t
worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what
you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Then
you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“Don't
worry” is not just a suggestion. It is a command.
You
and I can't trust and depend on our Heavenly Father to take care of
us and worry at the same time. It is one or the other!
I
prayed for other people as God brought them to my mind. It may have
been that I even prayed for you.
Praying
and interceding for those that God brings into our lives is a lot
more productive and a lot more important than worrying about our own
everyday lives that God has already promised to take care of … if
you and I will just let Him.
Application
I
will put into practice Philippians 4:6-7 and I will not worry about
everyday life. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me not to worry about my everyday life when there are so
many things that I can focus on and pray about instead. Remind me
every time that I begin to worry ... to pray. I thank You for Your
goodness. You have always taken such good care of us and I know that
You always will. Help anyone that is reading this blog today that
worries about their future – show them that they can trust and

“Man
Shall Not Live By Bread Alone,
But
By
Every Word That Proceeds From The Mouth Of God.”
Scripture
Matthew
4:4
Jesus
answered, “The scripture says ‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’.”
Observation
After
I read Matthew 4:4 this morning I decided to check with “Google”
and see just how many people actually read their Bible everyday in
America … I found that almost every American has a Bible but very
few of them actually read the one that they have.
Do
you fall into that category too?

Give
God at least five minutes of your time … lets read God's word.
Use

Application

Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I can remember how hard it used to be to read my Bible on a
daily basis. It was a struggle. My enemy, Satan, did not want me in
Your Word. I pray for those who may be reading this blog this morning

I Was Given A Thorn In My Flesh, … Three Different Times I Begged The Lord To Take It Away.
I
Was Given A Thorn In My Flesh, …
Three
Different Times
I
Begged The Lord To Take It Away.
Scripture
2
Corinthians 12
7 … So to keep me
from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger
from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
9 Each time
he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in
weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so
that the power of Christ can work through me.
10 That’s
why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships,
persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am
weak, then I am strong.
Observation
Maybe
you are living with a “thorn in the flesh” right now.
No,
I am not talking about your spouse! …
It
could be that you like me have had a heart attack or have some other
health issue that you deal with on a daily basis. I know that some of
you are fighting cancer or have a loved one fighting this battle.
Some
of you are taking care of a loved one that can no longer take care of
themselves.
Here
is a word for you!
My
very good friend, Missionary John Seale sent me these words which I
will always keep on my refrigerator. These words encourage me when I
am down physically and spiritually. John has now gone on to be with
Jesus, but his encouraging words and the strength of his life will
never ever leave me.
Here
is what he wrote to me one day when I was struggling with my own
health,
“Such
difficulties bring many of us to a depth of spiritual oneness and
fellowship with our Maker that most believers would not understand.”
And
with the quote John sent me this verse: Philippians 1:29 “For you
have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also
the privilege of suffering for him.”
I
will always keep the quote and the verse on my refrigerator!
God
does not waste a “hurt”.
If
you and I are experiencing a “thorn in the flesh” then God will
use the “thorn” to bring us closer to Him … if we let Him.
Application
So
now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of
Christ can work through me. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, thank You for giving John Seale and his wife Jeanie to us as
our friends. I pray for Jeanie right now. Give her strength to carry
on with her life without John by her side. John understood suffering
and he had to put up with so much of it while he was here on earth,
but he is no longer dealing with pain. Thank You for having John send
to me those words of encouragement during a time when I was
discouraged. You are a great and mighty God. You are worthy of all
praise.
