Facing The Unknowns In Our Lives

Facing The Unknowns In Our Lives

Scripture

Romans 8
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
More Than Conquerors
 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
   “For your sake we face death all day long;
   we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Observation

I have been writing a daily blog using the S.O.A.P. format since 2006. It was in 2006 that I was introduced to Pastor Wayne Cordeiro’s way of reading through the Bible in a year. I had already been reading the Bible through each year for several years before being introduced to this S.O.A.P. method, but once I began to write down something about I had read each morning it completely changed my devotional time. The Word of God really came alive and I get so much more out of God’s word. I have never met Pastor Wayne Corderio personally but I am very much indebted to him. If you are interested in using this method just go to http://www.lifejournal.cc/ and you can learn how. You don’t need to use a computer like I do you can use a journal or just a notebook. I use my computer because it is easier for me I just click one time and I am right where I am supposed to read for that day.
Today I go to see the heart surgeon and I also have a visit with my kidney doctor. There are a lot of unknowns in both of these visits today. The heart surgeon will tell me all about the condition of my heart and will give me the nitty gritty of what I will face in the future. The kidney doctor will either give me a good report and will say that my kidneys are working well or he could put me back on dialysis if they are not.

So Romans 8 was a perfect chapter to read this morning. I was reminded as I read this chapter how much God loves me. In fact, He told me this morning in Romans 8:28 that no matter bad the situation or circumstance is or how bad my heart attack was or no matter how bad of a report that the doctor may give me this afternoon God has promised me that He is going to turn this around for my good, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

I don’t know what you are going through today, but why don’t you just take a few minutes and read Romans 28 and thank the Lord for all of His great promises.

Application

As I go to the doctors today I go knowing that God is right there with me and no matter what kind of report I receive good or bad I know that I am His child and He is going to take care of me.
Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray for those that might be reading this that may struggle with having a daily time alone with You. I pray that they may be encouraged to at least write things down about what You show them in Your Word. I pray for those that are living in fear because of the unknowns in their lives. Give them courage and boldness to face life’s trials with the faith of knowing that You are right there working in those circumstances and will turn all things to our good. Give me boldness and courage today as I go to these doctors. Thank You that every day I am getting better. This body of mine is Yours, my heart, my kidneys, and every other part they all belong to You. I have been bought at a very high price and I am Yours.
