Repent … Best Word In The Dictionary!

Repent … Best Word In The Dictionary!

Scripture

Luke 13

5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Observation

You see this word, “Repent” sometimes being held up on signs at football or baseball games and sometimes someone will be holding a sign with this word at a busy street corner. You may think of the word as something negative but just the opposite is true. It is the best word that you could ever come to understand. In fact, unless you understand and act on the word repentance you will spend an eternity in a place called Hell.

So it is a very positive word. It could keep you from eternal suffering and anguish!
Have you ever “repented” of your sins and turned to God? The word repent means to change direction. Most people in this world are going the wrong direction and our job as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ is to let them know that they can make a U-turn and they can turn from sin and self and turn to God.

Jesus says, that unless you repent, you too will also perish. Have you repented of your sins? Have you turned your life over to the Lord Jesus Christ? Is He your Lord and Savior? If not, why not repent right now of your sins and acknowledge Him as Lord of your life.

Application

The Good News is all wrapped up in the word “Repent” and I will continue sharing that Good News with everyone I can.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have had the opportunity to repent of my sins. I have turned my life around and it is going to a godly direction. You are the most important person in my life. You are my Lord and my Savior. I am trusting in You for my salvation and no one else. Help me share this message with others. Help them to understand the Good News and trust in You too. Help them to understand this wonderful word “repent” and my they turn from their sin and self and turn to You.

Best Lessons In Life Are Learned in Difficult Times

Scripture

Luke 12

6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Observation

Does this passage mean very much to you? Well if it doesn't then you haven't been in the situation where Kathy and I have been. Years ago God taught me a very hard lesson about depending on Him and not depending on myself by letting us experience a total financial melt down. He let us get to the point where we did not have a penny to our names. I will not go into all the details, but it was when He had called us into ministry and we had made the huge move out to Ft. Worth, Texas to finish college and go to the seminary. You would have thought that since we were making this huge move for God that He would take care of us … right?

He did take care of us once we shifted our dependence totally on Him and not on our own resources. I thought I could easily get a job when we got to Ft. Worth because of “my skills”. What I needed was a good lesson in total dependence in the One that I was called to serve and I got it.

When our car was completely out of gas and when we had no money to buy food … then I cried out to God for help! I yelled at God. I cried. I finally came to a place of brokenness. Then God provided us a job. He provided us food. He provided us cars.

The seminary experience I would not trade it for anything. But I also would never want to re-live it either. We have some great memories. It was during those days when this passage became so real to Kathy and I.

Application

I will depend on My God to meet my needs and not on my own resources.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, writing this blog about those seminary days brings back lots of memories. You moved in our lives in a very powerful way. You showed us that we can always trust in You . Since those days You have never left us or forsaken us. You continue to bless us. You continue to lead us. Don't let me depend on my own resources. Help me to trust You through these days of transition. I look to You for our help because I know that You are my help. You are my Savior. You are my provider. You will continue to take care of us because we are Your children. You have called us. You will continue to guide us. Thank You for providing us with everything that we need. You are an awesome God.

How To Pray

How To Pray

Scripture

Luke 11

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Observation

Is Jesus a liar? Of course He is not a liar so you can believe what He says in Luke 11 about prayer. Here is how He says to pray. Are you praying with perseverance? Who are you praying for? What are you praying for? Who am I praying for? Does it matter that you pray? How important is prayer in your life? Do you pray about everything? Tell me about your prayer life...do you spend a lot of time each in prayer? Do you spend much time each day in God's word? I doubt you pray much if you are not in His word much. I could be wrong but I don't think I am.

Application

I will be in an attitude prayer all day today. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me talk to You all day today about everything.

Busyness Does Not Equal Godliness

Haggai 1; Haggai 2; Psalm 129; Luke 10

Busyness Does Not Equal Godliness

Scripture

Luke 10

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Observation

If we are not careful we might begin to think that just because we are very busy that we are very spiritual, but this passage helps to remind us of what is truly important. Time at the feet of our Lord and Savior is what is most important. It is the “better thing.”

Take time to be holy. Take extra time to be with the Savior. Weariness is a definite sign of busyness.

When we are occupied on doing the right things we might become tired but not weary. Do you feel your attitude changing about what you are doing? If so you might need to check in with your Lord and Savior and make sure that you are doing “the better thing”.

Application

I will seek to get my direction and my focus from Jesus today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me not to grow weary in well doing. Help me to have the right attitude toward the events and activities that are coming up. Help me to choose the “better thing” and guide me through the decisions and choices that I need to make. Be glorified in me and through me. Help me to please You in all that I do today.

Daily Follow Him

Ezra 4; Psalm 113; Psalm 127; Luke 9
Click Here To Read Or Listen To Today’s Daily Bible Reading

Daily Follow Him

Scripture

Luke 9

23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 25 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?

Observation

Following Christ is a daily choice. It is a decision that you and I must make everyday. Have you made that decision for today? If you don't make that conscious decision to make Him Boss everyday then you will live the day out for yourself.

If I have Christ then I have everything. He is all I need.

Application

I want to live today for my Lord. I am making that choice right now.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, my head is full of thoughts about this weekend. You never everything that I am thinking about. You know that there some things that are way beyond my control to fix. I pray that You intervene and work in the lives that need Your touch. I can't fix the problems that they have but You can. You are all powerful and nothing is too hard for You. I choose to live for You today. Show Yourself powerful in the situations that I am facing.

Obedience Brings You Close To God

Ezra 2; Ezra 3; Luke 8
Click Here To Read Or Listen To Today’s Daily Bible Reading

Obedience Brings You Close To God

Scripture

Luke 8

21 Jesus replied, “My mother and my brothers are all those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

Observation

Are you hearing the Word of God and obeying it? If you are then you are as close to Jesus as His mother and His brothers were when He walked this earth.
Sometimes we may think that Jesus didn't get tired and weary like we do, but in this chapter we see where He was so tired that He took a nap. It doesn't say that any of His disciples took a nap. It seems as one reads this chapter to imply that only Jesus settled down and took a nap. He didn't wake up even when the storm was about to sink the boat. Now that is a pretty deep sleep!

And to think that you and I can be just as close to Jesus as a brother! We can be that close to the Son of God! The key is obedience. Are we obeying Him in every area of our lives?

Application

I want to be as close to Jesus as possible. I am going to ask Him to show me any area of my life that is not in obedience to Him. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I want to be as close to Jesus as His mom and brothers were. Your word gives me strength for today. I pray that we bring You honor and glory today. I pray that You use Bruce as he preaches Your word. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him Your words and Your power. I pray that lives will be changed today. Help us with all the details of today. You are worthy to be served. You are worthy of Praise.

What Joy For Those Who Trust In God!

Scripture

Psalm 84

10 A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is our sun and our shield.
He gives us grace and glory.
The Lord will withhold no good thing
from those who do what is right.
12 O Lord of Heaven’s Armies,
what joy for those who trust in you.

Observation

I love this Psalm! This person is in love with his God. I am too! This is the way my God feels about me. Do you think that He feels the same way about you? I love going to church. I love working hard all week to make the experience of those going to our church a great event.

I got up this morning with the strong desire to come into the living room where I have my quiet time and meet my God. Then I read in His word some incredibly neat stuff. God has so many promises for those that follow Him. God wants so much to bless us. He wants to smile on us from Heaven. Just read His word and you will have to agree with me. Just read this morning's Bible reading and you will have to agree. What a great and mighty God we serve!

Application

I will use this day to get ready for tomorrow...church! How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in Your house than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. For You are my sun and my shield. You give us grace and glory. You will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you.

What You Say Reflects What's In Your Heart!

What You Say Reflects What's In Your Heart!

Scripture

Luke 6

45 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

Observation

Are you a good listener? When you hear someone talk do you ever think that what they are saying is a reflection of who they are? The words that leave our lips speak volumes about our heart's condition. The stuff that is in our heart will overflow out of our mouths. Listen to those around you. You are hearing what is in their heart!

Have you ever heard someone say, “Oh, they are not really as bad as they sound?” Yes they are and they are probably a lot worse than they sound.

Application

I will make sure that I spend time with God and time in His word so that my words reflect a close relationship with Him. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me please You today with what I allow into my heart. May my words reflect a close relationship with You. Guard my heart today. May my words be pleasing to You. I pray that You would help me through this day. You are Worthy of Praise. You are Mighty in Power. Your words are always true and trustworthy.

Making Jesus Famous One Life At A Time!

Scripture

Luke 4

37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

Observation

It is our task as Christ Followers to make Jesus famous one life at a time! It is who we are. It is what we are supposed to be about. How am I doing? How are you doing with this task.

When Jesus had come to a solitary place to pray his disciples came looking for Him and told him that everyone was looking for Him. His said to them, “Let's go to other towns and villages because that is what I am supposed to do.” And today that is exactly what you and I are supposed to do. Take the message of Jesus to places where they have not heard of Him. It is who we are. It is what we are supposed to do.

Application

I will continue to look for people that need to hear the Gospel message and share with them about Jesus.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me spread Your word to those that have not heard. Help me be concerned about the people that have not attended our church and have not heard the Gospel. Give our church a heart for missions. Give our church a heart to make Jesus famous here in our city.

I Am Counting On You Today!

Scripture

Psalm 130

5 I am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him.
I have put my hope in his word.
6 I long for the Lord
more than sentries long for the dawn,
yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.

Observation

Are you counting on the Lord? Are you longing for Him more than a night watchman longs for the dawn?

I am counting on the Lord, yes, I am counting on Him. How about you?

Application

I am counting on the Lord today, yes, I am counting on Him. How about you? When I become discouraged or overwhelmed it is because I have taken my eyes off the Lord. So today I am counting on the Lord!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am counting on You today. You are my strength. Give me energy for this day. Give me Your desires. Give me Your wisdom. Help me make good decisions based on Your leadership. Just as the Psalmist I long for You.

Give God The Glory!

Scripture

Luke 2

14 “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

Observation

Giving God the Glory is what our lives should be about. It should be our number one purpose in life. Life should not be about us. It should be about Him. How are we doing? Everyday it is a choice. Will you make the choice to live for Him today?

Application

The angels in Heaven burst out in praise at the birth of Jesus. We need to burst out in praise because He is our Lord and Savior. I will praise Him today. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I love the story of the birth of Your Son. How the shepherds rejoiced, and how the angels sang praises when they announced Your Son's birth. I praise You today. Thank You for allowing me the opportunity to know You and to walk through life with You. Thank You for dying on the cross for me and allowing me to live the life that I lead. Faith And Blessings Go Hand In Hand

Scripture

Luke 1

45 You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.”

Observation

Mary believed what God told her through the angel Gabriel. She believed that she was going to have a baby even though she had never had sex with a man. Wow! It took an incredible amount of faith to believe something totally “impossible”.
In fact here is a reminder from God that with Him there is no such thing as “impossible”. Luke 1:37 “For nothing is impossible with God.”

Application

I will continue to believe God with the “impossibles” in my life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing me so much. You are so good to me. I don't deserve it. I pray today that You would be glorified and honored through what is done at church. I pray for people to be saved. I pray that You move in a mighty way in our service. “For nothing is impossible with You.”

Do You Know Him?

Scripture

Revelation 22

16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.”
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.

Observation

Jesus is offering an invitation to you and to me. His invitation is to “Come”. Have you responded to His invitation? Have you ever surrendered your life to Him as your Lord and Savior? If not ...why not? If not why don't you do it right now? Pray and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Ask Him to come into your life. Ask Him to save you from your sins. If you ask Him with a sincere heart He will come in and He will save you. I know because He saved me. I am forgiven.

Application

I will share the Good News with everyone that I can.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me. Thank You for allowing me the privilege of knowing Jesus as my Lord and my Savior. I pray for the opportunity to share Christ with others. Don't let me miss an opportunity. Be glorified in and through me.

Can't Wait To Experience Heaven!

Scripture

Revelation 21

4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

Observation

One day there will be no pain, no more death, or sorrow, or crying. God Himself will wipe away every tear from our eyes. I will be glad when that day comes. How about you.

When we get to Heaven it will be totally different than it is here on earth. God does not enjoy seeing us suffer. One day He will put a stop to all of it. But until that day comes we will continue to pray for those who are suffering. We will pray for those that are fighting illnesses or that are going through a time of loss.

We will pray to the One who can provide comfort.

Application

Until we are in Heaven I will continue to pray for those who are experiencing suffering because God hears my prayers and will answer them.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray for John who I hear is very sick. I pray that You touch his body with healing. Give him strength. Take away every cancer cell in his body. I pray for Charlotte that You give her strength and help her as she takes care of her husband. You are a mighty God. Nothing is too hard for You. I pray for Jenny today on her birthday. I ask that You bless her and her family. I pray that You would turn their hearts towards You so they can receive Your blessings.

Jesus …King of All Kings and Lord of All Lords

Ezekiel 36; Ezekiel 37; Psalm 110; Revelation 19
Click Here To Read Or Listen To Today’s Daily Bible Reading

Jesus …King of All Kings and Lord of All Lords

Scripture

Revelation 19

11 Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war. 12 His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself. 13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses. 15 From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. 16 On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

Observation

When you think of Jesus do you think of Him as described in the Gospels or as He is described in Revelation? To be honest I tend to think of Him in the way He is pictured in the Gospels, but every time I read this passage it causes me to remember that Jesus is coming back to this earth leading Heaven’s army and He will return with a sword and He will come back to rule with an iron rod.

Jesus has won the victory. He will come back victorious! I am so glad that I am on His side and I am no longer an enemy. Are you His friend or His foe today? I would not want to be His enemy. If you are His enemy then it is time for you to surrender to Him and become His friend. If you have never surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus then you are still His enemy.

Application

I will continue to help bring people to Jesus every way that I can.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me not to grow weary with everything that we are doing at church. I pray that You renew my strength and my energy so that I can serve You with all my heart. I pray for Kathy that You do the same thing for her. I pray that You help her today. Please give her strength and answer her prayers. We pray for laborers for the harvest. Help people respond in a positive way when we ask to serve. You are a Mighty God. You are worthy of praise.

Showers of Blessing

Scripture

Ezekiel 34

26 I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.

Observation

Everybody likes to receive a blessing. God promises His children not one blessing but showers of blessing. I love it. Obedience to God and receiving blessings from Him go hand in hand. Disobedience brings discipline and Obedience brings blessings. It is a very good reason to live a life of obedience.

Application

I will strive today to live for Jesus. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I enjoy showers of blessings from You and I don’t want to do something stupid that would cause the blessings to stop. Don’t let me. Keep me from sin. Guard my heart. Keep me close to You.

Heaven Rules!

Heaven Rules!

Scripture

Daniel 4

37 “Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.”

Observation

Heaven rules...period...end of story! Nebuchadnezzar had to learn that lesson the hard way, but God was willing to patiently teach him that lesson. Nebuchadnezzar thought that he was something special because of the kingdom and wealth and power that were his but God showed him that none of that was because of him and it was all because God had given him that kingdom.

God was very patient with Nebuchadnezzar. He threw Daniel in the lion’s den. He threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace and God still did not give up on him.

God may not have that much patience with us. I wouldn't test Him!

Application

I want to serve the Lord with the humility of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and Daniel today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, give me a heart like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and their friend Daniel. Give me their faith and their courage and boldness. You rule this world and I want You to rule my heart.

God is In Control!

God is In Control!

Scripture

Daniel 2

Then Daniel praised the God of heaven. 20 He said,
“Praise the name of God forever and ever,
for he has all wisdom and power.
21 He controls the course of world events;
he removes kings and sets up other kings.

Observation

It is a good reminder this morning on 9-11 that God is Sovereign and He is in control. He controls the course of world events and don't ever forget that. It seems like sometimes that the world is out of control, but it is not out of His control.
There are a lot of things that are out of our control. In fact, most of the things in our lives are pretty much out of our control. But they are never out of God's control. He is in charge.

Daniel went to God for the answer to his king's dream. God answered his prayers. The God of Daniel is our God too. What He did for Daniel He will do for us too. If we live like Daniel that is. Daniel was totally dependent on his God.

Application

I will trust in the fact that the Lord is guiding me through this day.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I trust You to guide me today. I want to serve You with all my heart, all my soul, and all of my strength. Give me the wisdom of Daniel today so that I can please You. Help me deal with people today that helps them see Jesus and draws them to a relationship with You. Don't let me mess up. You are my Lord. You are my Savior and my King. You are all knowing. There is no one like You.

Great is His Faithfulness!

Great is His Faithfulness!

Scripture

Lamentations 3

22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
23 Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”
25 The Lord is good to those who depend on him,
to those who search for him.
26 So it is good to wait quietly
for salvation from the Lord.

Observation

Here is a promise to all of us that might need to be reminded of the Lord's goodness and the Lord's kindness. Jeremiah was experiencing the wrath of God because the people of Israel refused to repent and they were being punished. The punishment was severe. It was a terrible time to be alive. But Jeremiah reminded himself and he reminds us of the goodness of God.

The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.

Application

I will go through this day knowing that the Lord is good to those that depend on him. I am going to depend on the Lord today. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are very good. You have always been very good to me. I don't deserve Your kindness. I don't deserve how good You have been to me. Thank You for saving me. Thank You for providing for me. You are a Mighty God. You are worthy to be praised. You are my inheritance! I will hope in You.

Fear God and Bring Him Glory!

Lamentations 1; Lamentations 2; Obadiah 1; Revelation 14
Click Here To Read Or Listen To Today’s Daily Bible Reading

Fear God and Bring Him Glory!

Scripture

Revelation 14

7 “Fear God,” he shouted. “Give glory to him...”

Observation

This part of verse 7 gives us a good summary of what we are supposed to do 24/7 and that is to “Fear God, and Give glory to Him.” Your life and my life should be spent fulfilling those two things.

How have you shown a reverence for God this week? Have you brought Him glory? You might ask well how was I supposed to do that? How about in our actions and in our attitudes – did we glorify Him?

Everyday it is a choice that we make either to live for ourselves or live for God. When we choose to live for ourselves then He gets no glory and we have shown no reverence for Him. What will your choice be today? What will my choice be?

Application

I choose today to bring God glory and I choose to reverence and fear Him. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, now that I have chosen to live for You today I want Your help doing it. You know me. You know my weaknesses. You know me inside and out. Don't let me drift today. Don't let me waste my time. Help me bring You glory and honor as I go through this day. You are worthy of glory and honor. You are worthy of Praise!

Are You Afraid To Die?

Scripture

Revelation 12

11b “...And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”

Observation

Are you afraid to die? Is there something that you are willing to die for? Would you be willing to serve the Lord in a dangerous place even though it meant that you might die? Would you be willing to go?

You and I need to be ready and willing to die. Are you? Am I?

I saw on the news just a few minutes ago where a gunmen walked into an I Hop restaurant and opened fire on a group of people and in a matter of moments many people died. I saw where fires in Texas have destroyed over 1,000 homes and have caused many deaths. Are you ready to die? It might sound morbid, but you need to think about it and make a decision about life and death. Are you afraid to die?
I am not afraid to die but when I die I want to die serving the Lord with all my heart and all my soul. I don't want to die doing something stupid. I want my death to put a smile on God's face. How about you?

Application

I want to live today like it was my last day on this earth. There are more things that I want to accomplish for the Lord and I want to be busy doing them when He calls me home.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, death seems like a terrible thing but going through it is the only way to get to Heaven. Now if You want to just take me up to Heaven without experiencing death that would be OK with me, but I know that You are not going to do that. Death is the door that we must all go through. Help me to live in a way that brings You a smile and help me to live every day of my life in a way that pleases You. You have blessed me with a wonderful life. Thank You for saving me. Thank You for giving me eternal life and though one day I will die – I also know that I will never die.

Give Thanks!

Scripture

Revelation 11

...“We give thanks to you, Lord God, the Almighty, the one who is and who always was,...”

Observation

All of Heaven was giving thanks to the Lord God, the Almighty, the one who is and who always was! It is a reminder to me that more than anything else I should spend more time in prayer giving thanks than anything else when I pray.

Do you have a heart of gratitude this morning? Have you thanked Your Lord this morning for all of His goodness and for all of His blessings. Think about your life and all that God has done for you and give Him thanks.

It is the highest form of praise to recognize God as the One that has provided everything that You have. Thank Him today.

Application

I will give thanks to Him who has given me everything.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You Lord for giving me so many blessings. Everything I have and everything that I have experienced is all because of You. I am so thankful today. You are so good to me. I don't deserve Your kindness. I am so blessed. Help me to have a thankful heart today. It is my desire to give You the praise and the glory for everything that I experience today. You are so good.

Then It Will Be Too Late...

Scripture

Ezekiel 25

11b... “Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

Observation

Everyone will one day recognize that Jesus Christ is Lord, but for many it will be too late for them when they do. One day every knee will bow and every mouth will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, but for those that did not have a personal relationship with Him it will be too late. How sad! As I read Ezekiel this morning the whole thing was very sad. None of the nations recognized and worshiped God they had all gone after false gods and God was going to destroy them.

Wake up. It is time to follow Christ. It is time to surrender your life to Him and trust in Him for your salvation. There is salvation in no other name. Do you know Him? Have you prayed and asked Him to forgive you of your sins and have you asked Him to save you? Why not do that right now? Don't wait until it is too late.

Application

I will share about Jesus with everyone that I can.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me be Your voice. Help me share Christ with those that You bring my way. Thank You for my salvation. I know that I will never be destroyed by You. I know that I am under the shadow of Your wings and I am under Your protection. Thank You for every promise that You have given me in your word. Thank You for saving me. You are worthy of Praise.

Drastic Measures

Scripture

Ezekiel 24

27b … Then they will know that I am the Lord.

Observation

If you read Ezekiel this morning and you read chapter 24 then you know everything that the Lord is going to do to the children of Israel because of their hard hearts and the refusal to repent and turn back to God.

Ezekiel's wife was taken by the Lord as an example of how the most treasured things of Israel would also be taken from them. Ezekiel experienced a lot of sorrow not because of his sins but because of the sins of the nation that he was a part of.
You and I also may suffer because of the sins of our government leaders, God will deal with our nation and any nation that turns its back on the Lord. God's description how Israel prostituted herself was quite graphic. If you didn't read these chapters you need to check them out.

Application

I will think about my life today and make sure that nothing is taking God's place in my heart. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I don't want to be like the people of Israel. I want to be like your servant Ezekiel. It seems that he was standing all alone. I am sure that You had more prophets that were also speaking to the people but it seems like most had left You to serve other gods. Help me to stay focused on You. I don't want to be drawn away from my relationship with You. Help me to keep it close. Show me when I do things that don't please You. Keep me close to You. Help me bring You glory and honor today.

I Will Thank The Lord With All My Heart!

Scripture

Psalm 111

1 Praise the Lord!
I will thank the Lord with all my heart
as I meet with his godly people.

Observation

I look forward to Sunday. How about you? It is a day that I look forward to all week long. I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people. I plan to do just that tomorrow. How about you? Do you look forward to Sunday? Do you look forward to seeing everyone as they come to worship? I do.

We prepare all week for Sunday. Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people.

Application

I will prepare my heart today so tomorrow I can say along with the Psalmist, “Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me prepare my heart today so I can be ready tomorrow to worship You with Your godly people. They are not perfect people and not all of them come with a heart prepared to worship You. I pray that You will move and work in each and every heart so true worship takes place at our church in the morning. I pray that Your hand will be on Your church in a very powerful way! I pray for people to be saved and lives to be changed.

Will You Go?

Will You Go?

Scripture

Revelation 7

9 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. 10 And they were shouting with a mighty shout, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”

Observation

Here is what Heaven is going to look like, “a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.”

People from every nation and tribe and people and language will be there so we need to get busy. There are still more people to reach. There are still people groups that need to hear the Good News. Once the last people group hears the Gospel then Jesus is coming back!

Will you go? Will you help someone else go? Will you pray for those that are going?

Application

I want to go. I want to go to an unreached people group and help them know Jesus. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I want to go. I pray that You let me go. I pray that you direct us to just the place where You want us to serve. Send us to the people that need to hear. I pray that You throw open the doors that have been shut so we might be able to serve You in a place that doesn't have the opportunity of having a church on every corner. Send us to a place where the Gospel needs to be proclaimed. We wait on You.
