Scripture

Galatians 1

3 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. 4 Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. 5 All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.

Observation

A few weeks ago a young man named Nick Schuyler was rescued after floating in the Gulf of Mexico for several days. Three of his friends, Will Bleakley, Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith succumbed to the cold water and drowned. This young man was over 30 miles out in the Gulf and there was no way he could save himself he had to have a savior. He had to be rescued.

We can’t save ourselves from this evil world and God knew this before He even created this world. God’s plan for our rescue was costly, the life of His One and only Son – Jesus. Jesus came to earth to seek and to save those who are lost. He gave His life on the cross to rescue us from this evil world.

Jesus died for me and He died for you. He gave His life on the cross as a gift. He wants us to exchange our sinful life for His sinless life. A gift is only ours when we receive it. Jesus gave His life for you and for me as a gift. I received Jesus Christ, I received God’s gift of eternal life back when I was nineteen years old. Have you received God’s gift of salvation? Or are you still floating around in this evil world, lost without a Savior.

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 9:27
And just as it is destined that each person dies only once and after that comes judgment,

John 14:6
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

John 5:24
"I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

John 1:12
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Application

I will be ready to share the Good News with someone today!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray for the families of these men that were lost at sea. I pray that You would comfort them in this time of loss. I pray for the young man that was rescued at sea that You would help him deal with this terrible experience and that You would walk with him through it. Give all of them strength. I pray that they would be drawn closer to You because of this tragedy and that it would not cause them to distance themselves from You.

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
