Scripture

No One is Righteous

9 What shall we conclude then? Are we any better]? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. 10 As it is written:
"There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one."

Observation

In Romans, chapter one thru three Paul describes the condition of man and shows that no one is “good enough” to deserve Heaven. I talked to someone yesterday who said to me, “I am going to leave it up to the Lord and if He thinks that I deserve to go to Heaven I will be in Heaven and if He thinks that I deserve to go somewhere else then that is up to Him”. At first glance that comment sounds pretty noble, but as I shared with him and I will share with you none of us deserve Heaven and all of us deserve Hell so I wouldn’t want God giving us what we deserve. Because of God’s great Mercy and Grace he provided a Way for us to have eternal life. Jesus Christ, God Himself, came down to this earth from Heaven was born and lived a perfectly sinless life (which one else could ever do) and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.

Check out what God says about Jesus in verses 21 – 26!

Righteousness Through Faith

21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Application

What is your relationship with Jesus Christ? If you were to die today where would you spend eternity? If you have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ then why not thank Him right now!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for providing a way that I may know you and have a personal relationship with you. Thank you for making a way to take away my sins. Thank you for forgiving me and allowing me to be your child. You are wonderful and an awesome God. Praise to your Mighty Name!
