Scripture

Acts 21

8 Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven. 9 He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.
10 After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.' "

Observation

In 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 the apostle Paul says, “women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.” And in 1 Timothy 2:11 Paul says, “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve:”

At the end of his ministry right before his death we find the apostle Paul staying at the house of Phillip the Evangelist. Staying at the house of an evangelist would not be unusual at all for Paul, we would expect it wouldn’t we. But staying at the house of an evangelist that had four unmarried daughters who prophesied…is this the same Paul?

Why would he stay at the same house? The scripture doesn’t say that he stayed at the house of the evangelist that had four unmarried daughters that used to prophesy does it. Interesting isn’t it!

Application

I will continue to read and study God’s Word and I plan to stay flexible and open to learn new things from His Word every time I open it.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to meditate on your Word today. Thank you for the verse that I have memorized this week. Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard my heart, for it affects everything I do.” Lord, help me lead our people away from the “petty” and help me to get their focus on reaching people with the Good News. Bring new people into my life today that need a relationship with you. Amen.
