Scripture

Nehemiah 7

1 After the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed. 2 I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do.

Observation

It seems like every week we read about ministers and church leaders being arrested for having sex with a teenager, or with a child, or being caught with pornography. Or if they are not arrested we read about pastors and staff members having to step down because of having committed adultery with someone in their church. As I write this blog a scripture comes to my mind that reminds me I need to be careful because I too could fall. 1 Cor. 10:12 “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!”

Application

Who should we put in places of leadership in our church? We should look for men and women of integrity that fear God more than most men and women do.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, make me a man of integrity. Help me spot those that fear you the most and that are men and women of integrity. Raise them up to places of leadership within our church. Protect us from the evil one that would have us to fall into sin. I pray for the men that I meet with every week. Help them to be men of integrity. Amen.
