Scripture

Psalm 101

3 I will refuse to look at
anything vile and vulgar.

Observation

David didn’t have the Internet, television, or all of the magazines down at the local convenience store filled with photos of stuff that was vile and vulgar. I don’t know what he had to actually look at back then, but he made a decision not to look. I also don’t know if this Psalm was written pre or post Bathsheba and I am not sure that looking at Bathsheba would fall into this category either.

There is stuff that we need to not look at and we have to make the decision ahead of time that we are not going to watch or look at stuff that takes our minds in the wrong direction like bedroom scenes on the television or women on the television that are barely covering themselves. And if you are a man I would suggest that you don’t even look at the Victoria Secret ads when and if they come to your home. Don’t click on that Internet ad or email that would draw you to a porno site, or to a site where your eyes cause you to sin.

Application

I am making a decision to look at only things that would please God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me keep my eyes focused on the right things today and not things that would cause me to sin.
