Burn Out

Scripture

Psalm 90

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Observation

How many of the Psalms were written by Moses? I don't know either but this is one of them.

The Psalmist cries out to God in the morning to be refreshed and to be renewed. Burn out can happen to any of us, but we don't have to let it continue. We need to come apart and spend time with the Lord before we come apart. Are you burned out this morning? Spend extra time this morning meditating on God's word.

Live is not easy. Life is not going to be easy even if you and I quit every activity or every thing that we are doing for the Lord. Problems are part of life.
Burn out is also a sign that we are just going through the motions and the things that we are doing have just become rituals. The joy is gone. We may have lost touch with the One Who can satisfy us. We may have lost touch with the only Person Who can bring us joy! Does that describe you this morning?

Read Psalm 90. It was written by Moses. He did not have an easy life. In Numbers 12 and 13 that was also part of our reading for this morning we find that even his sister and his brother had turned against him and were putting him down.

Application

I will seek the Lord's face. I will let Him refresh me. I will let Him keep me from burning out.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, keep my friend from burning out. Renew Your Spirit within him. Touch his life. Restore his joy. Allow him to serve You with all his heart. Don't let him give in to the Evil one. Keep him from sin. Help him see the big picture today. Show him how important He is to You. Bless him. Renew his strength. Give him joy. Help him conquer the feelings of defeat. Renew his purpose. Renew his calling. Bless his family. Prosper him in his work place. You are the Mighty God. Nothing is too hard for You. Your arm is not too short to save. Thank You for the joy of my salvation.
