I Know All The Things You Do, That You Are Neither Hot Nor Cold. I Wish That You Were One Or The Other!
I
Know All The Things You Do,
That
You Are Neither Hot Nor Cold.
I
Wish That You Were One Or The Other!
Scripture
Revelation
3
15 “I
know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish
that you were one or the other!
Observation
(I
am heading to Panama City today with our Disaster Relief Team from
our church so I won't be able to post any blogs until I get back home
… pray for us!)
…...
Lukewarm
… It is not what I want my Lord to say about me! How about you?
What
is going to be different in 2019?
Now
is the time to think about setting some goals, making some
commitments to the Lord, commitments that will make Him smile.
He
knows all that we do. He doesn't want us to be lukewarm!
Lets
think about what needs to change and then lets do something about it!
I
was so excited to receive an email from someone today saying that she
was making a commitment to the Lord to be in His Word everyday in
2019!
Nothing
lukewarm about that commitment! I am very proud of her.
What
needs to change in 2019? Start attending church? Join a small group?
Maybe volunteer to serve on a serve team at your church? Read the
entire Bible through this year? Maybe read the New Testament twice
this year?
Lets
not be lukewarm in 2019!
Application
I
will think about what commitments I need to make to the Lord as I
look ahead to 2019.
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, show me what needs to change in my life. Show me what
commitments I need to make in this coming year that will bring You
glory and honor. I don't want to be lukewarm.

Your Word Is A Lamp To Guide My Feet And A Light For My Path … Your Word Is My Source Of Hope.
Your
Word Is A Lamp To Guide My Feet
And
A Light For My Path …
Your
Word Is My Source Of Hope.
Scripture
Psalm
119
105 Your
word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
and a light for my path.
Observation
I
am surprised at how many people, who call themselves Christ
followers, spend hardly any time in God's Word on a daily basis.
When
I ask young adults at our church if they take time to read God's Word
every day many of them will reply by saying that they have an app
that sends a Bible verse to their phone every day.
Now,
in my opinion, (and remember opinions are like belly buttons –
everybody's got one!), and I certainly don't want to hurt anybody's
feelings, but I don't think having a verse pop up each day on my
phone or on your phone constitutes us being in God's Word.
I
know several people that made the commitment to read the Bible
through in 2018 and they have been successful. I am very proud of
them!
By
the way, you and I need to make a commitment to the Lord to be in His
Word every day for us to have success!
A
New Year's resolution to read God's Word every day this next year
will probably be as successful as any other New Year's resolution
that will make.
So
let's make our commitments to the Lord and let's let someone else
make New Year's resolutions!
Application
I
will read God's Word every day and not miss - because God's Word is a
lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. And the Bible is my
source of Hope!
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, give any person reading this blog today a desire to be in
Your Word every day! Help them make the commitment to You to read
Your Word every day this coming new year. And help them to be
successful! Thank You for not leaving us here on Earth without a way
to know You. You have given me a manual for how to do life and it is
called my Bible! Help me to follow what You say to me each day as I
read Your Word. Don't let me be lazy. Don't let me neglect being in
Your Word.

My
Life
Constantly Hangs
In The Balance,
Constantly Hangs
In The Balance,
… but
I will not stop obeying your instructions.
Scripture
Psalm
119
109
My life constantly hangs in the balance,
but I will not stop obeying your instructions.
but I will not stop obeying your instructions.
Observation
Hardly
a moment goes by that I don’t realize that I am on borrowed time.
Since my heart attack three years ago my body constantly reminds me
that my life hangs in the balance.
And
that is not a bad thing either!
You
see we are both on borrowed time. Seeing the end of 2015 is no
guarantee for any of us. We might not make it to the end of 2014 come
to think of it.
The
idea of dying doesn’t bother me. Does it bother you? Are you scared
of dying?
By
God’s grace and mercy I have personally experienced death and God’s
people praying me back to life. I know that I am not afraid to die.
What
does bother me is how I live each day! I am not proud of myself at
how I am doing.
When
it comes to handling pain and feeling tired and worn out on a daily
basis I am a big wimp.
So
if you and I are tempted to feel sorry for ourselves on the day after
Christmas lets take a minute and think about other folks we know and
lets pray for them. Some of them are dealing with far more serious
things than we are! Kathy always reminds me (so glad that she does)
that there are lots of people suffering a lot more than I am.
You
and I are blessed. We are very blessed.
I
am going to live forever in a brand new body that is never going to
wear out!
God
has allowed me to stay here on planet earth a little bit longer to do
His will.
Application
I
will pray Psalm 119:114,116-117.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father,
You
are my refuge and my shield;
your word is my source of hope.
your word is my source of hope.
LORD,
sustain me as you promised, that I may live!
Do not let my hope be crushed.
Do not let my hope be crushed.
Sustain
me, and I will be rescued;
then I will meditate continually on your decrees. Psalm 119:114,116-117

She Will Give Birth To A Son And Will Call Him Immanuel (Which Means 'God Is With Us').
She
Will Give Birth To A Son
And
Will Call Him Immanuel
(Which
Means 'God Is With Us').
Scripture
Isaiah
7:14
14 All right
then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will
conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him
Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).
Isaiah
9:6-7
6 For
a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
Isaiah
53:5-6
5 But
he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all.
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all.
Observation
Amazingly
the Prophet Isaiah wrote about the coming of the Messiah, the coming
of the Christ Child 700 years before Jesus was born.
We
can read in Isaiah about how Jesus would be born; it would be a
virgin birth.
And
we can read in Isaiah about how Jesus would suffer and die. Isaiah
wrote in graphic detail about how Jesus would be mistreated and
rejected.
He
described how Jesus would suffer: He would be beaten. He would be
whipped. He would be pierced.
And
Isaiah tells us why God allowed this to happen to Jesus in Isaiah
53:6, “All
of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to
follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.”
And
in Isaiah 9:6-7 we read about Jesus' present and future reign, “His
government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness
and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.”
To
which I say, “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
Romans
5:8
John
3:16
“For
this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal
life.”
Application
I
will take time this morning to marvel at all that God did for me by
coming into this world as Jesus!
John
1:14
The
Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw
the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father,
like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.
MESSAGE
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year! This has
been a very, very good Christmas! It has not been perfect, but it has
been so much better than last Christmas. Christmas is all about
relationships and the sharing of Your love with those we love. Thank
You for showing me how it is done. You put 'skin on' … You became
'Flesh' to show me how to love like You love. Help me to love people
like You love them. Give me a bigger heart for the people that You
bring into my life! Thank You for Your Son. He is the Indescribable
Gift!

Stop Doubting And Believe.
Stop
Doubting
And
Believe.
Scripture
John
20
24 Now
Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with
the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples
told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But
he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put
my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I
will not believe.”
26 A week
later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with
them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them
and said, “Peace be with you!”
27 Then he
said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out
your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
29 Then
Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have
believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have
believed.”
Observation
Can
you say with me today as the once doubting Thomas said over 2000
years ago, after he saw Jesus' hands and Jesus' side, “My Lord and
my God”?
Or
are you one who is going to go through another Christmas still
doubting the existence of the very One whose special day we
celebrate?
And
… maybe you find yourself tired of all this Christmas stuff and
have a desire to move on to the normal 'business as usual' kind of
life!
If
today on Christmas Eve you find yourself still a doubter then I have
this to say to you today, “Stop doubting and believe!”
Join
in the celebration!
Application
I
am going to celebrate my Savior's birth!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I believe! I celebrate my Savior's birth! I know without a
doubt that Jesus came and He came to die for me. I know that I don't
deserve to go to Heaven. I know I deserve to go to Hell. I am so glad
that You are not going to give me what I deserve!
I
pray for any person reading this blog who is still doubting that You
came into this World as a Babe in a manger. Help them to stop
doubting and help them to believe! Open up their spiritual eyes and
heart. Soften their hearts!

Now This Is Eternal Life: That They Know You, The Only True God, And Jesus Christ, Whom You Have Sent.
Now
This Is Eternal Life:
That
They Know You, The Only True God,
And
Jesus Christ, Whom You Have Sent.
Scripture
John
17
3 Now this
is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and
Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Observation
Christmas
time is the most wonderful time of the year, but for many it is also
the most difficult time of the year!
For
many it brings back memories of Christmas' spent with loved ones,
loved ones who are no longer with them. Sometimes it was during this
time of the year when their loved one passed away. I am sure that
this could describe you or someone you know.
My
Bible reading for today takes me through some of the last hours of
Jesus' life on Earth.
In
today's reading, which is found in John 18, our Savior is arrested,
and tomorrow on Christmas Eve, I will be reading John 19, 20, and 21
about His death, His burial, and His resurrection!
It
is a reminder to me that the Christmas story is not just about a
little baby in a manger! Oh no, the Christmas story is about way more
than that!
It
is about a God who loved me so much that He left Heaven, came to
Earth as a human being. He experienced suffering as a human being
just like you and I experience it. He was tempted like you and I are
tempted … yet ... He never sinned. Then He died on a cross as a
Perfect Sacrifice for my sins and for your sins too. He came back to
life on the third day and one day He is coming back!
I
know that it is hard to get our heads around all of that He has done
for us, but it is all true! We can't fully grasp it, we can't totally
understand it, but that is what makes the Savior's birth into this
world so absolutely wonderful!
Application
Today
… In just a few minutes, I will be at church and when I sing today
and when I listen to our pastor's message, I will take in all of the
awe and all of the wonder of what God has done for me! And I will
praise Him!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I give You praise! Thank You for sending Your Son. Thank You
for giving me Eternal Life! Thank You for giving me a rich and
satisfying life here on Earth. I am blessed!
I
pray for those who are having a hard time during this Christmas
season. I pray for those who are sick and for those who have loved
ones who are sick.
I
also pray for those who have lost loved ones, who are having a
difficult time right now. I pray for healing for those who are sick.
And I pray that You give strength and comfort to those who are
experiencing the loss of a loved one.

I Am Leaving You With A Gift - Peace Of Mind And Heart. And The Peace I Give Is A Gift The World Cannot Give.
I
Am Leaving You With A Gift -
Peace
Of Mind And Heart.
And
The Peace I Give Is A Gift The World Cannot Give.
Scripture
John
14
27 “I
am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I
give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or
afraid.
Observation
No
matter what you give or what you receive this Christmas you will not
be able to top this Gift. This Gift has a name – Jesus!
At
Christmas, when we celebrate our Savior's birth, isn't it actually
pretty strange how we celebrate His birthday, I am talking about the
practice of giving gifts to each other on the day that we celebrate
His Birth.
Don't
get me wrong, I am not knocking the gift giving that we do at
Christmas. I think that it is a great way to show our love for each
other as Jesus commanded for us to do in John 13:34-35!
I
am not Scrooge!
But
hey, what gift did we give Jesus, or what gift are we planning on
giving Jesus on His birthday?
Your
life and my life surrendered to Him would be the best gift of all
this Christmas! Giving monetarily to further His Kingdom's work would
also be a great Christmas gift to Him!
And
helping someone in need … is definitely a good thing to do at
Christmas!
2
Corinthians 9:15
Thanks
be to God for his indescribable gift!
Application
I
will look for ways to to celebrate the Christ of “Christ...mas”
this Christmas!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, the Christmas season goes by so quickly. I think that all of
us want the generosity that we see at Christmas to continue
throughout the entire year! At least I do. I don't mean the giving
and receiving that is done because it is expected of us. But what I
love is the generosity I see during this time of the year that no one
expects … that is not forced … but that comes from the prompting
of Your Holy Spirit! I know that it happens throughout the year, but
it seems to happen a lot more during the Christmas season. Help me to
give more than I receive this Christmas. Help me to be Your Hands and
Your Feet to the people around me.

“Lord, He Has Been Dead For Four Days. The Smell Will Be Terrible.”
“Lord,
He
Has Been Dead For Four Days.
The
Smell Will Be Terrible.”
John
11
39 “Roll
the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead
man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days.
The smell will be terrible.”
41 So
they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and
said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. 42 You
always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these
people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.”
43 Then
Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 And
the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his
face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and
let him go!”
Observation
This
is absolutely one of my favorite stories in the Bible!
Lazarus
wasn't just dead. He was four days dead! Stinking dead!
Jesus
told them to roll away the huge stone and open up Lazarus's tomb and
immediately Martha thought of how bad that dead body was going to
smell.
We
don't know how bad the smell actually was when the stone was rolled
away, but the stone was rolled away and then after it was rolled away
Jesus prayed to His Heavenly Father, thanking His Father for hearing
His prayer!
I
say all of that because sometimes we read the Bible without taking
time to think about what we are reading. Take time to put yourself at
that tomb right beside Mary and Martha and of course Jesus and
visualize and sense the totally amazing miracle that took place.
If you remember,
it was a few minutes before arriving at that tomb that Jesus told
Martha this, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who
believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me
and believes in me will never ever die.”
Then
He walked over to a very dead (and probably very stinky) man's tomb
and called Lazarus by name and brought him back from the dead!
Can
you see Lazarus hopping and bouncing out of that tomb all wrapped up
from head to toe in those soon to be history graveclothes!
One
day, if you and I are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, He is going
to bring us back from the dead to live with Him forever!
Application
As
I read God's Word I will take time to think about what I am reading
and I will try to place myself in the middle of all the action!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me capture everything that You have for me in Your Word.
I don't want to miss one single thing! Show me things that I have
never seen before or that I have never really taken time to try to
understand. Your Word is wonderful. Every day as I read the Bible it
is fresh and new. It never gets old.
Help
those who may be reading this blog today to see new things as they
read Your Word. Encourage them today. Help them to dig into and
explore Your Word with all of their hearts. And bless them richly as
they do!

I Took My Troubles To The Lord; I Cried Out To Him, And He Answered My Prayer.
I
Took My Troubles To The Lord;
I
Cried Out To Him,
And
He Answered My Prayer.
Scripture
Psalm
120
1 I
took my troubles to the Lord;
I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.
I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.
Observation
Trouble
… Trouble … Trouble! Life is full of trouble and life is all
about how we deal with it!
It
is so sad when we hear that someone has taken his or her own life and
even more tragic to hear that a person in desperation or in anger has
taken the lives of others and then ended their own.
I
am reminded of what Jesus said in John 16:33, “I
have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this
world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the
world.”
To
quote a popular bumper sticker, “No Jesus, No Peace … Know Jesus,
Know Peace!”
You
and I were not designed by our Creator to live life without His help.
If that is what you are trying to do then I can tell you right now
that it is not going to end well for you. I watch people every day
trying to live without God, you probably do too, and it is not
pretty!
Lets
not be hard-headed … God created us for fellowship. He created us
for a relationship with Him. He wants to be our Heavenly Father. He
wants us to go to Him when we have trouble. He wants to be our go to
Person!
Job
14:1
“How
frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble!
Psalm
32:7
For
you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You
surround me with songs of victory.
Psalm
34:6
In
my desperation I prayed, and the Lordlistened;
he saved me from all my troubles.
Application
Big
or small I will take all my troubles to the Lord. I will pray first!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, don't let me be hard-headed! Remind me to pray first when
trouble comes my way. I know that You want me to depend on You. I
know that You have promised to take care of me.
I
pray for people that I know who are facing big problems. Help them to
take their troubles to You. Don't let them try to deal with them
without Your help. Bring people into their lives who will direct them
to You. Don't let us be hard-headed!
I
pray for my daughter Debby today on her birthday. Bless her Lord. May
Your face shine on her today. “May You give her her heart's
desires. May You make her plans successful. And may You answer all of
her prayers” (Psalm 20:4-5 personalized).

I

Scripture
John
6
51 I am the
living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread
will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world
may live, is my flesh.”
Observation
I
talk to people all the time about their relationship with Jesus. I
listen carefully to their response, listening to see if I hear them
share something personal.
But many times instead of hearing something about a personal relationship with Christ I get a response like: “Oh yeah, I did that a long time ago” … “I walked down the aisle of the church when I was 8 years old” … “Oh, yes, I was baptized when I was a kid”
Is that what you would say about your relationship with Jesus?
I realize that sometimes I might catch people off guard when I ask them about Jesus. And yes, maybe they respond quickly without thinking … but … I really believe that when you and I know Him we will talk about our relationship with Him.
Do you know Him? If you were at Heaven's gate and God were to ask you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?” What would you say to Him?
But many times instead of hearing something about a personal relationship with Christ I get a response like: “Oh yeah, I did that a long time ago” … “I walked down the aisle of the church when I was 8 years old” … “Oh, yes, I was baptized when I was a kid”

He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent. And He beautifies the
meek.” (Taken from - That's My King! Do You Know Him? by S.M.

Application
I

Good News about Jesus.
How

Do

Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I don't run across very many people in our country who have
not heard about Jesus, and they at least know His name. As I share
with people about Jesus I pray that You open up their hearts so that
they can really understand who Jesus is.
For
anyone that may be reading this blog today help them to see Jesus for
who He is. I pray for them. Help them to believe in their heart in
Jesus as their Lord and their Savior.

We Know That This Man Really Is The Savior Of The World.
We
Know
That
This Man
Really
Is The Savior Of The World.
Scripture
John
4
39 Many
of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the
woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
40 So when
the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he
stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more
became believers.
42 They said
to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said;
now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is
the Savior of the world.”
Observation
The
story of the Samaritan woman found in John 4 is so good and it is so
good for so many different reasons. It is definitely one of my
favorite stories in the Bible.
When
the Angels announced the birth of Jesus, they didn't make the
announcement to the rich and famous. No, they didn't go to the king's
palace to make this important announcement, they went out to the
country side to some lowly, and very ordinary shepherds.
When
Jesus walked on this earth, He went to the social outcasts, He didn't
focus His time on the rich and famous. Tax collectors, lepers, the
blind, the crippled, prostitutes, fishermen, the poor, they were the
ones who got Jesus' attention.
Jesus
told the Samaritan woman that she had previously had 5 husbands and
the man that she was presently living with was not her husband. He
told her that, not to condemn her for her obvious sinful lifestyle,
but to reveal to her that He was the long awaited Messiah, the Savior
of the World.
You
and I have a past. All of us have things in our lives that we would
be embarrassed about if they were made public.
All
of us are sinners. We are just like the Samaritan woman. We are just
like the shepherds in the Christmas story. Jesus came to this earth
to save ordinary people … ordinary people just like you and
ordinary just like me.
Application
I
will share the Good News about Jesus with every one that I can.
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, thank You for associating with and reaching out to, ordinary
people like me. I am grateful that You accepted me, just like You
found me, a sinner. And thank You for not letting me stay the way You
found me. I am still a sinner, but I am forgiven. I am one of Your
children. I am a King's kid. I am part of Your Kingdom. I have a
bright future ahead of me, one that will last forever!
I
pray for those who are sick. I pray for those who have loved ones who
are sick. I pray for healing and I pray that You give them Your
strength.

By His Divine Power, God Has Given Us Everything We Need For Living A Godly Life.
By
His Divine Power,
God
Has Given Us Everything We Need
For
Living A Godly Life.
Scripture
2
Peter 1
3 By
his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a
godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the
one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and
excellence.
4 And
because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and
precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share
his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human
desires.
5 In view of
all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises.
Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence,
and moral excellence with knowledge,
6 and
knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance,
and patient endurance with godliness,7 and godliness with
brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
Observation
When
you and I place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and we ask Him to
come into our lives to save us, in that very moment, we are given
everything we need for living a godly life.
Of
course, living a godly life does not mean that we are going to do
everything right. It doesn't mean that we are perfect. Living a godly
life means that we are striving to put God first in our lives.
God
has provided thousands of promises to help us live godly lives. But
you and I must read them and respond to them. We must act on all of
the promises that He gives us in His Word.
And
that means we need to read His Word every day!
Trying
to live a godly life without reading the Bible everyday is like
driving a car that is out of gas … you might be behind the wheel
but you are not going anywhere!
Lets
not make excuses … lets dig into God's Word today!
Application
I
will hold on tightly to all of God's promises that He gives me in His
Word.
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me to live a godly life. Every time I start to go off
in the wrong direction I want You to guide me back and get me back on
track. I know that I am a sinner, but I also know that You have given
me everything that I need to live a godly life. So I know that I have
no excuse when I sin. Help me to confess my sins every time I commit
one. Don't let me let them pile up.
I
pray for those today who are facing serious illnesses. Help them not
to be afraid. Give them Your strength. May they sense Your presence
today. I pray for healing. Touch their bodies with Your healing
power.
