Scripture

2 Corinthians 10

18 When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.

Observation

All of us like to be recognized for the things that we do, but if that is the only reason we are doing what we are doing then we will miss the blessing and our true reward. No one may say anything about what you are doing at your church or in your neighborhood, but if you are doing it for the Lord then He will commend you for everything that you do.

Volunteers like to be recognized and we should recognize them as much as we can, but their motivation for doing what they are doing needs to go deeper than just our pat on the back. We have some faithful volunteers that serve without hardly any recognition, but God is going to richly bless them and their reward in Heaven will be great.

One of my men (Gerald Bolig) arrives very early on Sunday morning to unlock all of our buildings and turn on the air conditioning (now heat) and he is the last to leave on Sunday night. I don’t even know how many people know that he does this for them. He is faithful. I never have to worry whether he is going to show up or not. He has never missed a Sunday since the day he started. He is faithful.

Application

I want to please the Lord with my faithfulness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to be completely faithful to you this week.
