Scripture
Luke 18
35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting beside the road. 36 When he heard the noise of a crowd going past, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him that Jesus the Nazarene was going by. 38 So he began shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 “Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him.
But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord,” he said, “I want to see!”
42 And Jesus said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.” 43 Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus, praising God. And all who saw it praised God, too.
Observation
When you come to faith in Christ and He heals you then you immediately become a Christ follower. Just like this blind beggar did after he was healed. To say that you have trusted in Christ and Christ has touched you and healed you but then have no desire to follow Christ is a contradiction.
Therefore if any man (or woman) be in Christ they are a new creation, old things are passed away all things have become new. 2 Cor. 5:17 Eddy’s paraphrase
I am frustrated because some people want to make a profession of faith, but do not want to follow Christ. Do you ever get frustrated with people? I am sure that you do. If you do then you and I have something in common and here is a verse for us out of this same chapter, “…Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” So what do we do for people that just don’t seem to get it? We continue to pray for them and we never give up.
Application
I will continue to pray for people that have made professions of faith but continue to live like they have never had an encounter with Jesus.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me never give up on people that are caught in a life of sin. I pray that you set them free. Help them to have the faith to truly call on You and be healed.
