Scripture
Mark 3
9 Jesus instructed his disciples to have a boat ready so the crowd would not crush him. 10 He had healed many people that day, so all the sick people eagerly pushed forward to touch him. 11 And whenever those possessed by evil spirits caught sight of him, the spirits would throw them to the ground in front of him shrieking, “You are the Son of God!” 12 But Jesus sternly commanded the spirits not to reveal who he was.
Jesus Chooses the Twelve Apostles
13 Afterward Jesus went up on a mountain and called out the ones he wanted to go with him. And they came to him. 14 Then he appointed twelve of them and called them his apostles. They were to accompany him, and he would send them out to preach, 15 giving them authority to cast out demons.
Observation
I believe that we have been the power to cast out the demonic, but I believe that our hearts are too hard to even recognize the demonic when we are right next to them. Demons didn’t disappear from this planet. They are still at work today. Some of those that are sick with crippling diseases could very well be demon possessed. Our problem is how do we recognize the work of Satan and his cronies. I believe our hearts need an overhaul. We need to be in tune with the Father so we can see and hear with His eyes and His ears.
Application
The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Lets not let him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, open my eyes to the spiritual world around me. Make me sensitive to spiritual things. Help me see the evil one at work. Give me the discernment and the wisdom to know how to pray so that the demonic will not have power over the people that I try to help.
