Heaven – The Only Safe Place!

Scripture

Revelation 13

16 He required everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. 17 And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. 18 Wisdom is needed here. Let the one with understanding solve the meaning of the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666.

Psalm 48

4 The kings of the earth joined forces
and advanced against the city.
5 But when they saw it, they were stunned;
they were terrified and ran away.
6 They were gripped with terror
and writhed in pain like a woman in labor.
7 You destroyed them like the mighty ships of Tarshish
shattered by a powerful east wind.
8 We had heard of the city’s glory,
but now we have seen it ourselves—
the city of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
It is the city of our God;
he will make it safe forever.

Observation

As I read the book of Revelation this morning I realize that this earth is not a safe place. It is a place of persecution, and a place of trouble; it is a place of God’s judgment.

Heaven is the only completely safe place. It is safe forever.

This earth will continue to see war, famine, crisis, and every evil imaginable until the Lord ends it all and takes us home to Heaven.

I read in the Old Testament this morning where Jeremiah told the people what they should do. They had asked Jeremiah to get a word from the Lord for them and then after hearing what God said they defiantly said that they would continue to worship the queen of heaven and they rejected the God of their fathers. They chose to worship the gods of the surrounding nations instead of the One and Only True God.

Crazy!

Application

I will worship the One and Only true God today. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I don’t want to be like the people that chose to reject You. I want to follow You with all of my heart. I don’t ever want to turn away from You. I know that one day I will live in that perfect and safe place called Heaven and I will spend Eternity with You. But while I am on this earth help me to walk with You and trust in You and never worship anything or anyone else but You. You alone are worthy of my worship. No one can compare with You.
