Hailstones Weighing A Hundred Pounds Fell From The Sky Onto The People Below, And They Cursed God Because Of The Terrible Hail.

Hailstones Weighing A Hundred Pounds Fell From The Sky
Onto The People Below,
And They Cursed God Because Of The Terrible Hail.
Scripture
Revelation 16
21 and there was an incredible hailstorm from heaven; hailstones weighing a hundred pounds fell from the sky onto the people below, and they cursed God because of the terrible hail.
Observation
Hurricane Florence that is barreling down on the East Coast is huge.
And for all of us in Florida we know very well just how dangerous a storm like Hurricane Florence can be!
Revelation 16 talks about a storm that is coming, a hailstorm and this storm will be like none ever seen before. This storm described in Revelation will deliver hailstones, not the size of a golf ball, or the size of a tennis ball, or even the size of a basketball; no, people during this storm will have one hundred pound hailstones fall on them!
I have already started praying for the people in the path of Hurricane Florence and you probably have too. And I know that we will pray for the recovery efforts of the First Responders and we will pray for all of the people impacted by the storm.
But in Revelation 16:21 we find the people not praying to God for help, but rather they were cursing God because of the terrible hail.
Hurricane Florence is a reminder to me that God does not promise us a problem free life. And you and I don't get preferential treatment just because we are Christians. Tragedy, sickness, even life threatening illnesses, storms of every kind, hit Christians and non-Christians alike.
Christians and non-Christians, believers and unbelievers, will both be hurt when this storm hits the coast.
But … Christians will be given the opportunity during and after a storm to shine for Jesus.
And non-Christians, because of the storm, will be given the opportunity to see the love of Christ in action as followers of Christ help their unbelieving neighbors rebuild after the storm.
Application
I will be ready to go help with the rebuild after this storm if our Disaster Relief Team is called into action.
How about you? If you are interested in serving with us on our Disaster Relief team just contact James Hartley.
Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray for the people that are in the path of this storm. Give them wisdom to know whether to stay or to leave. Protect them, Lord. Use this storm to draw them closer to You. Use this storm so that many put their faith and their trust in You for their salvation. May this storm give Christians the opportunity to shine for You as they help their neighbors and those affected by the damaging wind and torrential rain.
