Scripture

1 Thessalonians 3

12 And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.

Observation

When is a cup full? When it can’t hold a drop more and it begins to overflow that’s when you know it’s full. Are we overflowing with love for people today? If you are full of God’s love then it is going to slosh out all over people. Most of the time we love ourselves so much that there isn’t any love overflowing to anyone else. Paul said that their love for the Thessalonicans was so strong that they couldn’t stand it any longer they had to send Timothy to go check on them. Paul prayed for this group of believers night and day. Who are we praying for both night and day? Paul had only been with the group in Thessalonica for 3 to 4 weeks and yet had grown to love them that much in that short time. If you have ever gone on a mission trip you know how this happens.

Application

Help me show that kind of love to the people around me today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, it was just a few weeks ago that our men were over at Bell Shoals Baptist Church fellowshipping with their men at the men’s conference and enjoying being with their pastor. Yesterday we got news that he had died in a plane crash along with his young teenage son Preston and you know the deep sadness that is in my heart. God I know that you will take care of his family, his five remaining children and his wife Dawn. And I know that you will take care of the church that he has left behind. It is impossible to understand this and I have to leave the entire thing at your feet. May your love overflow to those loved ones through your church today from all over the world. You are the God of all compassion and the God of all comfort and I ask that you comfort those that are grieving today. In Jesus Name Amen.
