Scripture

Luke 15

1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!

3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

Observation

Do you care about the lost? Do you really? Do I? Are you willing to go after the lost? Where aren’t you willing to go? Would you move? Would you go across the ocean to reach the lost? Would you move to another state, or another city?

It is the lost that need to be found. Those that are already found are already in the Kingdom it is the ones that haven’t heard yet that need to be found. They are lost. They are going to hell.

What excuse will you make for not going after the lost? What excuse will I make? Do we even care?

Are we too comfortable where we are today?

In Haiti they are frantically searching for those that are lost beneath the rubble. It is a race against time. They only have a few hours of time left to be able to find people while they are still alive and that is how we should be about the spiritual lost too.

Application

I will continue to pray for and talk to people that need the Lord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, break my heart with the things that break Your heart. Help me to have your eyes to see people like you see them. Help me to be able to lead my family like I should lead them.
