Salvation is Not A Reward For
The Good Things
We Have Done…

Scripture

Ephesians 2

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Observation

If we were standing at Heaven’s gate and God was on the inside and you and I were on the outside and He were to ask us, “Why should I let you into my Heaven what would we say to Him”? Hmmm … what would we say to Him? I know what I would say, but what would you say to Him?

Most people in our country believe that being good is the key that opens the gate to Heaven but you and I my friend can never be good enough to get into Heaven. And that is because Heaven is a perfect place and no matter how good you and I might be, you have to admit we are far from perfect. So if we can’t be good enough to get into Heaven then how will we ever get in?

The Answer – JESUS!

JESUS! Jesus Christ came to this earth, God Himself. During the 33 years that He walked on this earth Jesus lived a perfect life. He never sinned one time. Jesus then allowed Himself to be arrested, He allowed the Roman soldiers to nail Him to a cross. He allowed them to put a spear into His side. (He could have called a thousand Angels to rescue Him.)

Jesus poured out His blood on the cross. He died on that cross as a perfect sacrifice for Your sins and as a perfect sacrifice for My sins.  He died in Our place. He paid the penalty for Our sins. He did it as a gift from God.

Have you received the Gift of Eternal Life? Have you surrendered your life to Jesus Christ? Have you asked Him to be Your Lord and Savior? Why not turn and talk to Him right now. In prayer ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Ask Jesus to be Your Lord and Your Savior. Surrender your life to Him right now!

Remember! “Salvation is not a reward for the good things that we have done!”

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 1:12

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--

John 5:24

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

Acts 4:12

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Titus 3:5

He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit.

Application

I will continue to point people to Jesus! How about you?

Have you received the gift?

If you were to die today would you go to Heaven or Hell?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray today for those that might read this blog. Give them spiritual understanding. Flood their hearts with the Good News that Jesus Christ has provided the way for their salvation. Open up their spiritual eyes. Open up their spiritual hearts. Show them that they can put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Help them to see and understand that they can never be good enough to get into Heaven on their own.
