And So I Tell You, Keep On Asking, And You Will Receive What You Ask For. Keep On Seeking, And You Will Find. Keep On Knocking, And The Door Will Be Opened To You.

And So I Tell You, Keep On Asking, And You Will Receive
What You Ask For. Keep On Seeking, And You Will Find.
Keep On Knocking, And The Door Will Be Opened To You.
Scripture
Luke 11
Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him,

‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’

And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’

But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 “You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead?
12 Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not!
13 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
Observation

Last night Kathy and I had the opportunity to attend the first night of our 50th High School Reunion. I have to admit that we were a bit nervous. Our high school senior class was huge – someone said last night that we had 700 in our senior class. But it was so good to see old high school friends and meet some people that graduated with us that we never had the opportunity to get to know. It was also sad to hear that over 90 that graduated with us had already exited this life into the next!
I love this story that Jesus taught his disciples. He was teaching them about prayer in Luke 11. I hope that you take the time to read it. It is only nine verses long.
What Jesus is saying to me is that Eddy should never give up praying for the people that God has placed on my heart! Maybe you are one of those people!
This story also reminds me that I have a Good, Good Heavenly Father, who wants to answer my prayers!
Application
I will be persistent in prayer. I will not give up.
How about you? How can I pray for you?
Luke 18:1
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing us the privilege of seeing so many of our old friends from high school last night. Bless them, Lord. May Your face shine brightly on them. Help me to pray for them as You place them on my heart. Help me use my time, the time that I have left on this earth wisely. I want to count for you.
Help me and any person that may be reading this short blog, help us to finish well. You are a Good Good Father. You love to answer my prayers.
Bless the person who helped Kathy and I attend the reunion. Smile on him, Lord!
